tomiboi-Esk8 Ratcheting toe-clips are in stock!

My request for someone to measure their Freebord 5-X deck got this.

I ordered a set, I’m curious and fiscally irresponsible! I’ll review them once I have some miles
I’m not convinced these are better than the duckt tape and zip ties, but my new board will be so nice, I don’t want to embarrass Kai and Artem by white trashing it up. As social distortion said at a concert I think actually happened “u can take the boy out of the white trash but you can’t take the white trash out of the boy” I’ve been trying for 48years(shit it’s about to be 49! FUCK)

Thanks for trying a set out. It’s hard to compete with duck-tape, but you’re right, my toe-clips do have a cosmetic edge. :joy:

Some one has good taste.!
If I had built may board Instead of paying someone to and it was worthy of a name I would call it mommy’s little monster

I updated the adaptors. tomiboi78/SBbracket: A bracket for adapting Summerboards/Freeboards to tomoiboi Esk8 ratcheting toe-clips (github.com)
You need 1/4’-20 x1" bolts and 8mm tall T-nuts to attach it to the toe-clips. I found both at ACE hardware in the bulk nut & bolts department.

Any chance you would be interested in adding haero bro/MBS f5 mounting holes to this plate? I would love to be able to just bolt on these bindings rather than having to drill new holes

Do you have a diagram of the holes? I might try to make something specific to it.

I dont :frowning: Maybe one of the folks who have made a bolt-down footpad for the Bro could help us out? @ApexBoards @Lee_Wright @sleepless ?

Is this what you’re looking for? It was posted at the beginning of this thread.

This is a great idea I wanted to put these on my mtn board but don’t wanna drill holes.

I think I have a good idea for it. The only problem I’m seeing is that the holes are so close together.

@tomiboi
First and foremost I would like to commend you on all the work put into these.
The abuse video to the bushing for feel and design. It’s a very thought out!

I have suggestions, comments, things to consider, etc.

  • Metric, please adopt this as your standard.
  • Adapters for standardized bolting patterns like mountainboard bindings.
(I can see this is in the works)
  • Consider sending out some M6 bolts/Nuts and a M6 countersink washer.
    (photos on that below.)
  • Different Toe Clip Style options.
(I would like a option of a Clip that my foot can get into both ways.
Not a one directional Clip. I will/want to do pop shuvits on my boards and this is SOOOooo
close to being possible with these clips!
Just need some modified Clip shapes. Maybe even just a shorter
one for me to hook onto. All in all I think dif shapes and such would help more than myself.

Some setups have inserts and a M6 bolt and washer would allow this to fit more simple.

Other setups bolt from the bottom with a M6 which could also work well.
You could even use the insert as your first bolt then drill into the second slot
to allow a M6 to come up from the deck for the second bolt. Hope that makes sense.
Basically you need to drill one hole with the above setup if you have M6 bolts and
washer to compensate.

As you can see some decks have this standard. You can bolt these with a M6 from the
bottom up. This allows you to use at least one of the standard holes then drill out
the other one as needed. Or even just make holes similar to standard in a form
factor that fits your clips. Im not a fan of the T-nut solution and think this might
even be simpler.

If you ever consider different style clips, I will help fund the R&D to make this happen.
I truly want a way to do more tricks, and think having a clip that works with both stances
will only help push esk8 in a upward direction.

I too think the Tnut idea is not the best idea.

Sorry if you’ve mentioned it above… but could you just tell us how much the mold cost was & MOQ?

We might be able to have a big selection of cool ass bindings in 6-12 months.

Thanks for picking up a set… two sets  and thank you for all of the feed-back. Once I recoup some more of the mold cost and accumulate a lot of feed-back I’ll get some more parts made. Right now I have an adaptor for summerboard/freeboard and other flat decks in the works. I just updated the summerboard adaptor last night.

I’m also at the beginning of the design for an MB/Bro board adaptor. I’ve got a design and I just finished printing it. I’m going to make some changes and then I’ll post a git-hub link for it later today. I could use some help with it because I don’t an MBS deck on hand. I need help with bolt placement.

Others have asked me about a non-directional toe-hook and I think it’s a great idea. Watch out for a 3d printable design from me soon for testing. I would definitely love some help refining it when it’s ready.

@marketthrowaway The mold cost for all the parts was $9500. My company will do small batches (250-500 parts), but they charge a small-batch fee. It wasn’t that bad, $75.
