Thoughts on my DIY build list so far? (newbie to DIY)

First off, new here, and generally new to forum-type posting so if I have any problems bear with me please.
I currently own a Meepo V3 ER, and Ecomobl ET. I will be selling the ET soon in case anyone who reads this might be interested. Now onto the important things.

This will be my first DIY build. I haven’t 100% decided on the current setup, also not sure if I’ll be purchasing before winter as the season is coming to a close and will probably just have to wait til spring unfortunately. But, thought I would take the time to cross T’s and dot i’s, make sure that when I am ready to put together my E-board, I can do so confidently.

Here is my current parts list:
Motors - https://flipsky.net/collections/e-skateboard/products/flipsky-bldc-belt-motor-battle-hardened-6384-190kv-4000w-for-electric-skateboard?variant=35808656261288

Wheel Pulleys - https://boardnamics.com/product/modular-wheel-pulley/?attribute_wheel-type=Kegel&attribute_quantity=Single&attribute_tooth-count=40T

ESC - https://makerx-tech.com/products/go-foc-dv6-dual-100a-esc-base-on-vesc6

Trucks + mounts - https://boardnamics.com/product/bn220-fixed-angle-precision-trucks-idler-motor-mount-kit/

Battery - Currently, plan is to have a pack made by Eskatealex on IG, he made my ER pack for the V3 and I’m very happy with it. Unless I have reason to change this, plan on going with a 12S3P 40T/P42a pack.

Wheels - I have not decided on these yet. Will probably start with TB 110’s or similar Urethanes to start with, I am very interested in copping Momentum Board’s Hollow wheels at some point though.

Board+Enclosures - This is where I’m having the biggest dilemma. Enclosures seem to be not necessarily the hardest but weirdest part to fit in a build. I was possibly looking at a Board/Enclosure combo here ( https://www.eboardsperu.com/product/evo-spectrum-40-ss-combo/ ), but it is quite expensive and I don’t know if I need that high-quality of a board myself. Otherwise I was looking at a blank deck from Skateshred ( Probably this one https://www.skateshred.com/wholesale-blank-longboard-decks/blank-drop-down-longboard-decks/40-75-x-9-75-drop-down-blank-deck.html ), and currently I’m trying to figure out what enclosure I would use. I’ve seen a few ones with no cutouts for ~$60 but I don’t know how they would fit or if it would be better to make my own, or possibly find a local place to shape/vacuum a custom enclosure out of ABS or something.

Any advice or opinions are appreciated! Budget is looking at ~$1300-1500 currently. I might have to cop the Flipsky motors right now because they are on sale and with their pulley saves me ~$40.

Got most of these parts ideas from Eskatealex on IG. Don’t know if he’s on here but really appreciated his help so far. Hope for the board is to get 30+mph and 20+mi of range, and being able to change my gear ratio to raise/lower either as desired. If I’ve broken any rules or posted too many links (wasn’t sure if it was frowned upon or not, couldn’t remember seeing :grimacing:)

Its @A13XR3, no?

the part listed are good stuff, @eboosted fiberglass enclosure is one of the best out there, also well made. worth some consideration imo

That is me! Idk if I suggested all of it, but I tried to give him some good suggestions. Plenty of others here to help him too!

Lol you’ve already got the creme of the crop, no point in changing that

Deck + enclosure is the main part of the build. You should always pick those first, and then figure out what battery fits, what trucks and wheels to use for clearance, etc.

You’d be mad to spend that much on a board without a high-quality deck and enclosure. Fiberglass is way stronger than ABS, I think you should go with Eboosted’s stuff.

With those trucks and wheels I think an Evo would be the best choice from Alan’s lineup. Or, if you can find it, a hummie deck with BigBen’s enclosure. Should fit 12s3p in some orientation or another  (I think that would be my personal choice, given that there’s just enough room in it for that size of a battery, and it would be lower to the ground than an Evo)

You settled for decent parts, but i would consider a complete de-flipsky-fy of that build. Maybe hobbyking sk8 motors?
For the deck, i recommend the hummie. It will become available pretty soon along with bigben’s fibreglass enclosure. I have to make the cutout longer on mine to fit a 12s4p p42A currently but 12s3p will be really easy.
If you do decide on the deck +enclosure in your post, check the lead time, you might not get it even this year

Torqueboards wheels, depending on where you live, will cost more than half the price you see on them for shipping and duties alone.

Check out @Anubis for pulleys, belts, charger, even the boardnamics hangers. You’re very likely to get a way better deal on shipping, since uk is reasonable (compared to us) and you’re getting multiple things from the same place! (P.s.: he’ll be the guy to stock a few hummie deck+enclosures as well)

Also, don’t forget the remote!

@Potato_Punk get puck, regret nothing

Eeeh… weird shape. Maybe try one out in the wild first if available. Try a few out first if the chance arrives really

Reasoning for the de-flipsky-fy? I had read around that they had some problems in the past but I’ve also seen more recently they redesigned their motors/housing and people seem to be having good experiences.

I will have to check Anubis’ stuff out and see how prices compare. I’ve never shopped on UK stores so I have no experience with it. Yeah I did forget about the remote, currently undecided, need to do more shopping. I really love the new M4 remote on my meepo but idk if it would work with this esc or not.

actually before i get mine, i did thought about the weird shape, and i might not like it, but after first two ride, now i feel its more natural for me than others, like the vx2 :man_shrugging:t2:
it might just be me, but i quite like it.

but i agree, try one before buying one would be better

Z e r o aftersale support
One of my flipsky motors is grinding something between 40-45km/hr.
There was a lot more grinding in there but only this one persists for some reason. I consider the right amount of rubbing sounds in my motors to be 0.
My previous flipsky 6355 motors started clicking in 2 days from mounting them. Contacted flipsky, they dragged it out until their hypothetical warranty expired and then tough luck. By that time bearings completely crapped out. Maybe 5% off your next motors that will fail in the exact same time? Lol
Credit where it’s due, besides that fake-ass moped sound my board makes over 40’s, the motors are indeed solid. No play in the shaft, clicking, nothing in over 1000km already.

Anubis’s stuff has way more sensible markups compared to other sellers out in the wild. You will save a lot, especially if you’re in europe.

If that M4 remote has ppm/pwm or uart, it will work with vesc. But i doubt…

Vx2 has a weird delay in throttle response. Not enough to really feel unsafe, but more like playing an online game with a slightly higher ping. You feel something off.

I am located in US. Don’t know how much CS differs from us to uk with flipsky (or if it goes thru the same people) but I’ll look more into it and keep it in mind, thanks.

I make a deck that would work well for this, but it’s not for the frugal.

Flipsky has terrible customer support. Some of their toys are fun, but the support sucks. They have some QC issues as well.

I’ve had a lot of luck with Maker-X ESCs. That one will probably work nice. Especially for $215.

The puck is the sturdiest, best-built remote I’ve used. The shape needs help, but I still highly recommend it.

Any other reputable brand I could get similar/same powered motors from instead that you know of?
I will have to look into the puck. Lil more expensive than I had planned but if it works better than others I might go for it. Thanks!

@torqueboards motors (us based! Might save some considering their 110’s you look out for)
Maytech motors
Alien power systems (APS, uk based)
Haggy?
Trampa? (Not cheap)
Hobbyking (only 6374 192kv sk8. Solid 80-100A motors […in winter obviously])
