I see 12 available channels for phase wires… are you future-proofing it in case you decide to go 4WD?
6 phase, 2 sensor, 4 battery
Future man.
Do you think this build is more “extra” than Madness?!?
Haha maybe just in different ways
Still designing parts for the new top box, but took a minute to model the solo heatsink… will have a crack at making some lego once i’ve finished the rest of the parts
I decided i’m gonna leave the heatsink attached and just push the whole thing through the bottom plate
Lol I didn’t bother making the nobs in my cad model, just made it flat
Manipulating the knob is the most rewarding and satisfying part. You’re missing out.
That reminds me of this

You should print some dick caps to match
Alas, there has been no time for lego!
Finished up some of the revised parts this morning. Some wire routing bits and a new multi part riser…
Because the esc is going through the bottom plate now, the original box/deck bolts were going to be in the way, so I needed to come up with a solution…
Using the original holes and the first part of the riser, i’ve housed some offset nuts and bolted down an aluminium plate. A new riser will sit on that and let me bolt my new plate down to the offset nuts.
Cutting these plates was ok the first time… kinda sucked the second time the 3dp jig is awesome tho.
Still need to design a new case for the solo that will also house the bms on top of it, hoping to get that done tonight. Also need to make new phase wires, the way I need to run them means the extensions I made are gonna be a whisker short.
With any luck I might be back to where I was last weekend by the end of the evening!
Got most of it together, it all went to plan! Much happier with this design than tthe previous design, so its a net win!
For once in my life vesc tool decided to play ball! Detection was a breeze! Even got sensors!
Next job is to finish the bms! Gotta split the bms harness to parallel into both batteries
Every step of this process was a little nerve racking, but with a few double and triple checks, it went smooth!
Everything fit in… just not my neatest work but I was up against it with the amount of shit i was trying to cram in there
Yes… they are phillips heads. Bite me. They were the right size and saved me chopping some others down
Nothing fancy with the sensor and phase connections. MR60 for phase, and just straight jst for the sensors. Little bit of hot glue and heat shrink and then the 3dp covers bolted down into the inserts
Not 100% finished yet, but it’s ready for action!
The raw lid doesn’t please me. I’m gonna borrow some inspiration from @Tasventouras and pretty the lid up with some 3dp details. Also still need to ddesign a handle for the back. And the Big Beems from @ShutterShock. Oh and I ordered a zmote!
Keen to give it a squirt tomorrow tho!!!
Looking super good!!
Rugged bedliner on the box lid & truck plates might look really good given how black the rest of the board is.
I have a strict anti bedliner policy over here i like a bit of the raw look, but that lid is just too stark as it is. Working on a fix now
Plastidip or rustoleum could be cool
I can’t easily find bed liner here so I don’t know much about it, what’s the issue with it? I find it very hard to judge if I’d like it from pictures
I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with it, just feels like a crutch.
Reasonably happy with this solution
Ahhh fair, I forgot some people have standards
