The Singularity™ bushing design for Channel trucks.

What’s the cutoff before it becomes hardware? Anything above 100A duro maybe? :man_shrugging:

We love you Brad.
Please do this.

Sorry if this is too stupid, or already been discussed;

Can the single piece bushing brace around the kingpin, or even better support the hangar almost completely, and help reduce the wear of the infamous kingpin nylon spacers? Almost as if the kingpin will remain only to maintain the rotation axis and prevent the hanger from falling off?

Could this also create a minor but maybe useful “PKP” effect where the connection between the hangar and the baseplate is handled by the soft urethane bushing?

I’m thinking, I liked the PKP feeling on rough terrain, I liked it a lot, but I didn’t like the wider turning radius, I think channel trucks can move more

Nah, there’s an intermediate stage of being firmware before that

How’s your project going? I was excited to have them one day on my esk8 but you haven’t updated for a while

This is not dead, just hibernating…the beast will reawaken soon!

hibernating… kinda like going into the Matrix? III

Hey @RipTideSports is this project still hibernating, or possible that we might see it wake up for matrix iii or other trucks?

Unfortunately, a Singularity truck needs to be designed from the ground up. Adapting an existing design has proven to be impractical.

Hmmmm. Sounds like an interesting project. Maybe I can take a crack at it.

I purposely avoid designing trucks due to the inherent conflict of interest but I am happy to assist others in design concepts and brainstorming new trucks. RipTide does not plan to make trucks.

Here is an amazing truck that I have ridden extensively that is designed around a single bushing but was too complex for prime time and manufacturability. https://www.peterverdone.com/the-pvd-r3-slalom-truck/

Sorry for the late Christmas gift but I finally had time to readdress the singularity for the MBS Matrix III, I think we are on to something that fulfills my hopes for adapting a single bushings to an existing Channel truck designed for two. Our approach here is to allow a much greater range of motion through indirect deformation of the urethane in place of direct deformation. We currently have two shapes to differentiate the front from the back so you can use the same durometer but have a split setup which allows the front to turn easier than the back. The design integrates many of the existing MBS parts but oriented differently than stock plus we replaced the two bushing pressure plates with a single one. With this design, the bushing is captured and cannot fly out of the assembly unless it is literally torn in half.

Here is a picture of the RipTide Singularity installed in the back truck.

Awesome to hear you’re making progress on the project.

How would you describe the ride characteristics of the singularity bushing? How does it turn differently from the stock bushings?

Also can we see more pics?

You only get a “singular” picture  @Shadowfax

I had to do a teaser to start until I get more miles under me. The main difference is a very linear response and the deep lean that can be accomplished which is effectively 1.5x to 2x the range without any chance of losing a bushing that is just hanging in space. I normally ride KranK 93a in RKP trucks and that is what I am using in these.

If this makes channel trucks feel more like RKPs, this would be the cat’s meow for me. The durability of Matrix trucks with the lean of RKPs!

I was super sad that these might not come to fruition, so this news is awesome!

Here is what is in the Matrix III trucks, the front bushing is on the left and back bushing is on the right.

I wonder if these MBS bushing replacements might work for the Acedeck NYX3 Trucks they seem kind similar aside from the top of the bushing being angled compared to a stock Matrix III bushing

But I am appreciative of your efforts to combat the magic floating bushings in these channel trucks it gives me the heebie jeebies looking at them

Those look more similar to the bushings we made for Lacroix
