The Humility eMTB | 2*18s2p | Solos ☠️ D100s backup | 138kv Radiums | InfinityHubs | 5:1 Custom Chain Drive | Minnie + VX4

I actually was able to do a long ish ride after esk8con. Did around 26 miles from 100-32% battery. So my guess I would get about 35 miles of hard riding. I’m pretty light weight and I was avg around 48wh/mi.

Holy heck that’s high, even for American measurements

So…, kinda freaking out. Plugged in the solos to the battery this morning, left home just like usual but was at 62% battery according to the meter. Rode just fine, all of a sudden while heading down a hill my vescs both cut out, no remote, nothing. Had to coast down the hill. Tried plugged in each vesc individually and nothing. No signs of life anywhere. Heading over to a coffee shop to troubleshoot now.

Update: plugged in the battery to charge, still no signs of life on the vescs. No multimeter handy, waiting on one in the mail.

Update: plugged battery brick directly into each solo. Nothing. I guess these expensive vescs are dead, just minutes after blowing my budget on a new battery instead of VESCs because I thought these were bulletproof.

I’m really fucking sad right now.

Update:

Wallet is as sad as I am.

Fuck sakes I really wanted to get new deck and bindings and trucks and tires…

Now it’s backup vescs.

@Skyart is there any sort of repair service? Can I send in these solos for doctoring?

If you never exceed about 10A per cell (continuous or pulsed) then those cells can run pretty efficiently and perhaps give you a bit more run time.

I ended up going with the P42A because I’m wanting to set a 30A max draw from the pack, and might increase that if/when the need arises.

Losing the solos, not being able to go skate packing this weekend, had to buy new dual vesc. Needed some self care.

Ι just don’t understand why so many people ask me a question about a cell, that requires my time to answer, only to say that they went with a different cell.

Why the hell does everyone leave the original post up? Or at least edit it? Is this a courtesy that is just ungrantable nowadays?

Genuine questions…why did you feel it would be good to continue to have me reply to your original post even though you changed to P42A’s? Why did you think “yes, having Mooch waste his time on my question is a good idea”?

Don’t waste your breath Mooch, hes all out of goodwill from everyone in the community. I appreciate you tried to help anyway.

Because your answer informed my decision greatly, thank you for your time. I wanted more range, but as you said I would need to lower my max amp draw. As I didn’t want to do that I went with the cell that could do it.

So yeah, thanks for being here.

I’m really not seeing how you’re so distressed about this.

Wait, are you mad that I’m not using the cell I asked about? Why? I asked about it to get opinions, which informed my decision. What’s so wrong about that?

Because you already made the decision on the cell after asking Mooch for advice and before receiving his advice. He could’ve not taken the time to respond and the end result would’ve been the same.

So this can’t possibly be true:

and you should stop being a shit and trying to stir up drama by double posting and tagging Mooch, among other things. I can’t believe I’m taking the time to explain this to you.

Woah calm down. I meant exactly what I said. What’s with the unnecessary hate?

I asked multiple people for advice, and everything that all of them said was taken into account.

Are you a victim now…?

What’s got you so ornery?

And why do you have to be like this in my build thread?

Distressed? Interesting overstatement meant to help whatever excuses you might have but I understand why you did it.

You asked me, specifically tagging me. You could have easily removed that tag or PM’d me when you bought different cells.

I’m frustrated that you, like so many, gave no thought to the time you were still asking of others when you decided to go with a different cell.

I get it…it’s a courtesy thing and you just don’t do that kind of stuff. Lesson learned pour moi.

I’m sorry I didn’t realize the etiquette around posting, or talking to people online, was so particular.

I’ll have to give this a try. Might be a good way to preserve components I might not absolutely need.

LOL…it appears that there might be several things you didn’t realize. Common courtesy, though obviously not universal, is not particular. Your attempt at a subtle putdown was lacking too.

Oh, wait…was I supposed to put “I’m sorry” at the beginning of that?
