Very possibly. I’d be inclined to make sure the whole harness was connected to the battery before plugging the balance plug into the bms. And I always make sure the main B- is connected to the battery before plugging in the balance plug.
How do you plug the BMS into the battery on a charge only configuration? Would that require the charger to be plugged in as well? (Diagram I was following below)
I usually hardwire B- to the battery
The charger or charge port has no relevance to connecting the bms to the battery
That this doubles as a sale thread
one man’s trash can be one man’s treasure
Got it, in my case the BMS is mated to the charger rather than the battery due to space issues, so the order of operations should be:
- Plug B- to battery
- Plug balance leads to harness
- Check harness for +~3.8V per step
- Plug balance harness into BMS
- Plug charger
And then remove in opposite order?
You nailed it dude
But for step 3, make sure you keep your negative probe on the black wire and only move the positive probe along each pin.
The numbers need to be in sequential order.
Eg.
3.8
7.6
11.4
Etc…
Man, that’s brutal. How’d that happen?
Salt water is dangerous
More specifically salt water and sand. A lot more conductive than you’d think.
ahh, I see your sand runner build. That’s crazy man.
