When using the monsterbox in a 2 x 6s configuration is there any particular XT90 port that is the designated charge port?

Doesnt the monster box have the xt90s labelled vesc and charge?

Na they are identical, the only difference between them is how the wires connect to the battery. I just ended up taking the gamble based on what I found in some of Trampas instructional videos. Currently charging away, just another 6 or so hours…

Plenty of time to look at a booster lol.

By the looks of it you have one of the earlya DieBieMS

GND-S1-(battery-)
C1=S1+
C2=S2+
C3=S3+
C4=S4+
C5=S5+
C6=S6+
C7=S7+
C8=S8+
C9=S9+
C10=S10+ (battery+)

The later gen DieBieMS were labelled a bit differently witch is were you confusion might be

C0- =S1-(battry-)
C0+=S1+
C1=S2+
C2=S3+
C3=S4+
C4=S5+
C5=S6+
C6=S7+
C7=S8+
C8=S9+
C9=S10+ (battry+)

Other things to think about are you adding Temperature sensors to you battry. (100kOhm at 25C Thermisteres are recommended type C)

I have no idea what a type C is if some one with more knolage can educate me be much Appreciated.

Do you want the VESC to be able to power up the battry (used for push to start) this involves a extra cable on the can been attached to the VESC 5v

Do you want a button to power up
(Personally I shorted out the Unity button so Unity was Permanently on and used the DieBieMS anti spark)

Do you want a Sreen on the board
Simple conect like dot to dot just follow the labels (hint there not in the same order)

Yeah I am going to add a temp sensor ASAP, where would you recommend putting it/them? just near the centre of the pack?

No I doubt I would use push to start, but would that be connected via the CAN on both the FSESC and DieBieMS to have that option?

I have the FSESC6.6 Simplify Version so I plan to use the DieBieMS powerbutton.

One other question, what about regenerative braking is it OK to have that enabled on the FSESC with the DieBieMS? And does that require any additional wiring?

yeah, 9" with the gear drive is mandatory

Yellow are top connection(seen from this angle)
Purple are bottom connections(not seen from this angle
I need confirmation that I’m not derping badly

You are better off welding series connections from each individual cell… like this

… just maybe dont need as many :joy:

damn, thats alot of clips
ive yet to decide how much im gonna focus on series connections, i wish i had a sheet of nickel that i can cut down, would have made everything much easier and cleaner

Yeah it would. The connections you’ve drawn though will have way too much series current running through your parallel strips.

I would use at least one strip between every cell

will do, maybe 2 strips each cell if i have the time, i need this finished by monday and i have my kids this weekend

Hey, looking good, you are asking the right questions. One thing I strive for when designing a pack is that each cell has the same total length of lead in the + and(-) direction

Pay attention to all the current sharing discussion, especially the “bad” examples. Really helpful info.

Too tired to do more, will try to do the bottom tomorrow

The arrangement looks good. Just make the series connection in more than one point like @glyphiks suggested

Careful of these edges of the series tabs extending past the parallel.

Do they make wide sheets of nickle that would allow you to connect the series connections in one strip? Eliminating all those short connections.

You could make custom CNC Nickel strips. If you have access to a router or something.

Idk where you would get the nickel stock tho.

Yeah you can get big nickel strips

A little overkill lol. Could just cut 40mm wide strips if you got a sheet that was wider.
