Question for battery pros

I have a 12s9p 40T pack and went for a long ride today. Battery was reading roughly 41.5v when I got home. When does it completely die? I felt like I had zero sag issues and my app was reading 0% battery, so curious how far down I should push it.

41.5v is only 3.45v per cell, almost storage charge…

Normally I stop about there as well, but on a long ride i feel comfortable taking the cells down to 3.0v or 36v pack voltage

What are your battery cut-off voltages?

I honestly don’t even know how to set those lol, is it in VESC tool?

Yeah it’s in the vesc tool…
And I don’t know about your bms… If it’s a smart bms and is running discharge there may be a setting in there as well…

it’s automatic in the wizard idk what the default is, 3.2V?

Nah it’s not a smart BMS, it’s probably set to default.

Is it bad long term to run it down to 3.2?

if you rip a battery hard enough to ruin it you deserve to buy a better one.

It sounds like you gots some reading and learning to do…

3.2v per cell is pretty safe

Haha yeah when it comes to the technicals about batteries, I definitely have learning to do. Thanks for the help though!

Learn to read the spec sheet on your specific battery cell, look at the discharge graphs and the battery aging data and then you’ll be much more capable at intelligently setting up your battery as it suits your use.

Im gonna look into it. Shouldn’t be hard. Honestly want some now for pack centers and edges, etc…

I think it’s like glass-fiber sheet or something, I’ve seen it in many stock batteries too

Edit: looks like it’s not hard to get since it’s on amazon

I’m building something similar. I have almost everything I need. Im building a waterproof( except being submerged) portable battery pack. It’s going to have about 2.5kwh pack with a 2kw 24v inverter.

If it’s G10/FR-4 that’s “blank” (no copper) circuit board material. Pretty tough and doesn’t start to go plastic until it’s up around 100°C if it’s the regular type. There are higher temp versions too though.

Yo!
I’ve been searching for a smart bms for several months now and had some shipping issue with LLT power.
That issue is most likely solved now and my new plan is to buy 10-15 bms (charge only) to make up for the expencive shipping rate… Is there a demand on those bms’s here? I only need two 10s for my builds and will sell the others.

@thisguyhere stocks them in his shop

He ships from US right?

Oh you’re EU…maybe the guys at Nexus or Apex might be convinced to stock them?
