Well it’s an LLT and those are some of the most popular BMS in esk8 so I’m sure many people including high end board makers are using them for a reason.

Sounds like there might be an issue with your particular one then (assuming the pack is fine).

I don’t assume that anymore these days. I’ve learned my lesson.

Seems I just need to cycle this pack a few times to get enough charging time to balance the pack, as I will no longer be using balancing while discharging.

@Battery_Mooch is balancing at the top end while not charging still okay? Or does that count as balancing while discharging?

I didn’t see that setting in the ones you posted. You can turn that on/off?

You can do it while charging or not. It shouldn’t have anything to do with balancing while discharging (it better not).

The better BMS’, in my opinion, will balance after charging has stopped. Otherwise it can take a lot of cycles to bring a pack back into balance after being stored.

Yeah there’s a switch in the function settings (not the params settings) that is called “charge balance”

When charge balance is off it only balances while not charging

When charge balance is on it only balances when charging

Any other balancing related settings?

Not sure what you mean by this, if it’s balancing while charging it won’t balance when it turns charging off, if it’s got charge balance turned off it won’t balance while charging, only when not charging

I can set a minimum voltage for balance to occur so it won’t balance cells under that voltage. Currently that’s set to 4V

That’s not necessarily true.

Turning something called “charge balance” on could mean only balance during charge or it could mean ALSO balance during charge (while balancing when not charging and/or when discharging).

Turning “charge balance” off could result in no charge balancing, and/or balancing when charging is done, and/or during discharging.

There’s not enough info on what that setting does. We can!t make any assumptions.

Best to ask other owners what that setting really does beyond controlling balancing during charge. That is, what happens when charging is over and during discharging. I suspect nothing happens for either. That is, the BMS only balances during charging, never at any other time, and you can only turn that while-charging balancing on/off.

Otherwise your pack would be balanced.

Any parameters that need changing? Fresh BMS read from my 18s6p P42A pack.

What app is that? Nothing like the LLT/xiaoxiang app I use…

yea android always gets the shitty looking apps  . Its the xiaoxiang app

not true, most apps look better on phones that don’t have a stupid notch or hole punch

irrelevant, I’m talking about the app design aesthetic

yeah the android one still looks better, has a nicer layout.

I guess dark mode is edgier though so you’ve got that

Aloha battery dudes! I just got the newer flipsky spot welder with welding pen and am going to run it off a 659cca car battery. What is the typical ms time for .2mm nickel. The only settings are weld pulse duration and max pulse. Do I need to adjust max pulse setting at all? I’ve got lots of nickel and crap cells to practice on. Mahalo

I started at 30 ms and then just kept doing test welds, forget where I landed.

Hello all, looking for some help here with nickel calculations…cells are samsung 40T in a 12s5p layout … the nickel strips (paper in photo) will be .2mm thick and measure 31.75mm wide … when i do the calculations based off cross sectional area it doesnt seem to be enough, but i would like some opinions. Based off what ive seen i thought this setup would be ok but the math seems to say no (good chance i have something off)…
Any help/opinions is greatly appreciated, thanks
