not exactly what i expected, but they turned out pretty nice
would describe as coca-cola color when light shines through them
and the white lettering went to soft pink 
in the end i used iDye red, cooked up once, then left at 100 degrees in the oven for a few hours, and at 50 degrees over night, alltogether like 16 hours in the dyetub
