Yeah, that’s why I wanted to switch it. Personally, I always liked having it. Takes a bit longer to assemble but worth it. Has a support bar + support bracket.
I am on my phone rn so i cant easily respond to each of u individually.
About the crossbar: I already bought the fixed motor mounts where the bar is included. Sadly the distance is to great for it to fit. I will milk one of my own and then it should be fine. But I think it’s better to have one at the end of the mount where the motors are at. This way I probably can even keep the motors from getting scratched up.
EDIT: I have both the fixed mounts which i fucked up and cant use anymore and the 63mm reverse mounts. so i still have the plate laying around as a spare part but the distance between the mounts is too great to screw it in.
Its just about 2mm but the thing is assembled so tight that i cant move anything. If someone has an idea how to get them closer together i will try. But i definitly think that @torqueboards did a great job with those motor mounts and i dont see any problem with them. I ride nearly every day for i guess about a month now and there is nothing to complain about. only thing i noticed is that one of the plates has changed angle a little so now the motors are not perfectly aligned anymore but that probably is because i didnt tighten them enough for them to hold against the moment the belt puts on the mount screws
EDIT2: the angles look weird because the motors are not aligned anymore. the plate would still not fit if the motors are concentric.
Yes, and why are you still using the dirty green wheels with the DD photos? And no, I don’t want to win a fucking prize.
@BillGordon I know gotta update those. What you got against dirty green wheels.
@WayNz what’s the length/gap that you have between your two motor mounts? What’s the length of the current support bar?
You definitely have alignment issues going on there. The gap between the motor plate and the wheel pulley is too big. That wheel pulley should be about 2mm away from the motor plate and vice versa th motor pulley. I would be loosening everything and attaching the cross bar and then spacing out the pulleys accordingly. You have a good bit of distance between the motors so no drama there so that squeeze you need to get the cross bar to fit should be a breeze. Try setting up 89mm motors on a 218 truck lol
Notice the belt is very close to the plate and my home made cross bar maintains the distance between the clamps and the motors and stops the clamps twisting on the hanger.
You also need to properly torque the clamps to the hangers so there is no gap on the square profile on 2 sides so tighten up the curved allen screw fist and then one side until the clamp is locked to a right angle and this needs to be done with a socket arm not a key.
The problem is i cant move the pulley any closer to the plate. i could move the plate torwards the pulley tho, but that would only increase the distance between the motorplates and make it harder to attach said plate. I think i am best off with a selfmade piece of steel to hold the mountingplates aligned.
Could you give me an idea of how alignment should be in the optimal case? I want the belt to sit as far away from everything as possible to not run the risk of it touching anything while running. Most importantly i want it as far away from the wheel as possible. Could you extend on that?
Are you using 12mm or 15mm belts? Is that 175mm for the support bar?
15mm belts and 175mm for the bar… sorry i confused cm and mm
Yeah, looks to be the correct size for the support bracket. Who’s pulleys are you using? I’m assuming that’s why your adjustments are off.
@torqueboards is bang on the money here. Its the wheel pulley that is the issue. If you look at the motor plate then both wheel and motor pulleys should be in perfect alignment or the belt will walk. Looks like yours is hitting the inside of the wheel judging by the rub marks because the wheel pulley is too far out. I can only reiterate and ask the same question, which pulleys are they?
@torqueboards @Dareno Those are the Aluminium Kegel Pulleys from Electricboardsolutions.
I guess i ordered them because i changed my mind about wheels&pulley shortly before buying. That was a mistake i guess?!
You can still use it. It’s just harder to use the support bracket due to the spacing issue of the pulleys.
Because there is a bearing you won’t be able to get it close enough on the hanger. Back to your original plan bro lol
Aah shit. i hoped to make a miracle board without any mistakes. if thats the only problem i need to fix tho, i am super happy.
I will mill out a new support bracket ASAP but first i have to realign the motorpulley/wheelpulley and remessure the length of the support bar.
Thanks to all of you for the heads up. Will update if its done.
@Dareno @torqueboards I managed to align it correctly after going over it today. there is still some space between the mounts and the belt, but this is the best i can do. the support bar fits like a glove. i would be happy to leave it like this, if you guys think its fine.
(i am only missing a screw for the supportbar which wobbled out at some point in the past)
DAMN your board looks hella fine. Super impressive colours. where u got the X-cover for the dropthru? im searching for that for some time now.
