SuperSpine #041 - WELKOM

Thanks! No, I haven’t, but I have to get them in the future. Maybe with 2stage gear drives and Hobbywing MAX4 combo in 12S.

The latest E-TOXX trucks are also very nice regarding turnability. I have the widest STEALTH ones and I’d be curious to see how they feel with narrower hangers. It’s a shame Jens doesn’t promote them more. I wish his 2stage gear grive used straight cut gears instead of helical.

By the way, my SuperSpine came with a bent hanger, that Moe replaced, and I’ve shipped this bent truck to Jens in case he wants to build a 2stage gear drive for this kind of truck.

Interested to hear how those 6ah turnigys go. Can you try get some current and voltage logs if you get a chance sometime? Would like to see what the sag is like

Was considering them as a flight safe pack

I have several Turnigy Graphene Lipo packs, mostly 6S, and I’ve only had one have a bad cell after two years. The others are still going strong even after 5-7 years.

I barely never go below 3.8 V/cell, to make them live longer.

I have trouble getting logs with OTA modules. I am disconnected from the ESC before getting logs most of the time. Both modules behave the same. If I only had one like that I would have thought it was faulty.

That being said, I’m drawing so few amps from the batteries right now that they’d have to be really bad to see any voltage sag.

First test in 12S today!

The start is very brutal, even with a punch set to 4. At 9, I can’t even imagine!

I managed to get this log, with difficulty with these OTA modules which are real pains.

I had about the same maximum speed. Quite logically, I used about 30-50% less amps. Same temperatures for ESC and motor. I would have thought the autonomy was better, and yet I did about the same distance up to 3.85 V/cell. Hard to explain…

Arrived at 55-60 km/h, in 12S there is enough trigger travel left, while in 8S there is little left, despite a maximum speed calculated at 73 km/h (against 109 km/h in 12S…).

12S is ludicrous mode. Everything looks smoother in 8S video, despite max speed remains almost the same.

How do you convert the “Max Motor RPM” in speed (km/h) (150mm wheels) ?

25843*(10/67)*((0,15/1000)*Pi)*60 ?
It gives 109 km/h… I must have made a mistake somewhere…

possible that the max RPM is eRPM, so you need to divide by the number of motor poles or pole pairs, which for those motors I think is 4

Also, might it be possible your wheels slipped/freespun at some point? Would make the max values not representative of max speed ridden (of course)

In terms of LiPo performance I’m pretty sure CNHL outperforms Turnigy LiPos by a lot, even their lower end 70C lineup has drastically less iR than the same capacity Turnigy Rapid 100C. Their smaller packs are very popular in FPV.

Yeah I have a few in my 6s 5". Kinda pricey when we’re getting up to esk8 sizes though.

That’s true but keep an eye on their sales and discounts it gets ludicrously cheap sometimes. + they slightly exceed stated capacity to reach their C rating with weaker chemistry
