Genuine question here… Why not?
From my perspective this seems like a textbook case of a product failing under normal use due to a manufacturing decision. So I’m genuinely curious why you see it differently?

You propose a great question. I did use under normal conditions. I suppose I feel the way I do because I’m used to breaking things in unusual/ unorthodox ways. I’d be casting more blame or claiming malfunction if spurs were failing and he was dismissive of the issue. I appreciate what Moe is doing in the sport so not trying to cast shadow over SRB. I’ve never seen them fail previously so not widespread issue? Moe has offered to press new core into spur for the cost of shipping which I appreciate. I however will move to Tito’s 67t laser cut and hardened 1-piece spurs.
Fair enough. I’m glad to hear that you reported this failure to Moe and that he’s offering to make it right. Shining a light on issues is the only way they get solved!
The community on this forum is known for giving esk8 manufacturers the benefit of the doubt when things Fall apart in a dangerous way ;I don’t see why this would be any different
I’ve ordered some of Tito’s laser cut and hardened spurs, while I wait I stoped by Ray’s La Jolla Ebike and Skate for some motor pulleys and keyways to try the SR125. So nice having local resource for esk8 parts.
Got em installed no problem, blast from the past installing belts again. Out of all my spare belts only had 2 that fit. Got em on in time for our local SD intro to speed. What a joy these wheels were to rip around the track on. This street beast makes for a pretty fun race board although all of us that tried it were slipping belts on braking into turns (new belts stretched a bit). Tires had good grip, and a very predictable slide profile. Something I’ve missed greatly having the linnpower slicks on my V5, is the second they break loose it’s very hard to keep under your feet. This was very opposite, controlled drifting.
Also put down 30 miles on the SR125 in the shitty coastal streets of San Diego. So many cracks holes and uneven conditions. These tires handled great! Very comfortable, no foot fatigue. I had plenty of grip to inspire confidence. A major problem is purely the wheel size on roads in poor shape. On the 7” novas I feel like a tank on the road able to plow through most obstacles harm free. These radium wheels being 125mm require much more focus and you just can’t push a fast pace in much of these roads. If I lived in area with better conditions or rode bike paths more consistently I’d consider them for daily use. I will go back to 175 novas as I wanna test some high speed.
Few updates:
ERPM doesn’t increase from speed! It’s just a function of voltage and KV, nothing else. If anything, your ERPM at the speeds you ride at, will be lower.
I have a feeling that you’d have wheelbite on kart tires and would definitely need extenders. But nothing beats their comfort, and they roll over literally anything. Also they won’t have great efficiency at the pressures you are supposed to be running them. Definitely stick with Dualities for the kart tires. Jacks swiss cheese hubs are a good option, I also have something in the works eventually
You’re right I was looking at numbers wrong with no-load. I was only using 173kv x 67.2v = 11,625.6 motor rpm x 7 pole pairs for 81,379.2 erpm. But I wasn’t taking the speed and wheel size into consideration. I think done properly it’s wheel rpm x gear ratio for mechanical rpm then times pole pairs in my case 62,400 erpm at 60mph. Still trying to learn all this stuff.
Agreed about wheel bite.
Loving the ford vs Ferrari reference. Also sick board. If I had money I would build a range beast like this. My board can only go like 20 miles on pneumatics if I’m being nice to it and it’s warm out ![]()
Appreciate it! It’s such a fun journey to be on right now.
Looking forward to hearing how you like these. Small note is they’re hobbed and milled which is much more accurate than laser cut.
10 inch tires are the best, they roll over everything. I personally like 10x2.5 tires for street use. You’d need a different deck.
Any plans to release those rims you showed for 10 inch tires?
Yeah I plan to release the 6 inch wheels for 10x2.5 tires with hubs that are cross compatible with go kart wheels and gear drives. Aiming for 6-8 weeks from now. Currently recovering from a injury so everything is a bit delayed.
Que paso?
Most mellow ride I’ve done yet with street beast and some friends. Speeds in the lower 20’s, finally got efficiency down to 34 wh/mi. The big battery finally felt huge, 15 miles in the Yours Truly app was saying 50 more miles range. I find that app gives pretty accurate range estimates.
You are in fact prepared to go down at 45.
Good on you dude!!!
Bi-directional current got me today. Was attempting to do puck down donuts in a plaza area. Came off the board early in the maneuver. Watching board head into a wall I hit brakes and watched it accelerate faster so hit full brakes sending board into a staircase handrail pillar full speed (telemetry data shows 50mph at time of impact). All happened so quickly. Looking at it all now, the board had done a 180 when I came off, so when I was trying to slow the board down with brakes it was sending it into the wall harder. It was a busy plaza, I’m extremely happy I didn’t run into anybody, or any bikes.
Damages:
Odachi deck is toast ![]()
Bent duality motor mount and smashed carbon fiber bash guards
Smashed motor can, other tbd
Handle and Shredlight is busted
Hopefully these brand new 67t spurs from Tito are still true and straight.
Effing horrible dude.
I am glad no one got hit.
I had a board run away from me recently and I was so worried about it taking someone out.
You certainly did way more damage.
I hope you get it back together soon.
Thanks bro. Nothing time and money can’t fix fortunately. I need to adopt a habit of no throttle input when I come off the board from here on out! Unless I’m 100% positive of board orientation that is. My guess is this probably happened over the course of maybe 3 seconds max. Not much time for rational thought.
