I’m a Trampa 12s8p DIY’er and former Arcboard owner.
I’ve found myself with a bit of time the coming week(s) and am curious about the following:
Would y’all be interested in an app to track your own rides, keep track of rides with friends and find groups to do joint rides with? Like Strava but custom made for eboarding.
It’s something I’ve personally always wanted, curious if others are interested in the same.
If you are, please comment below and whether you’d be interested in providing feedback.
I would like a ride harvester app. So like AllTrails except for PEV’s. It would capture your ride (including pictures, vehicle type), then store it in the cloud.
Then add the ability to characterize the ride for, basically, funness. The thing I’ve found about rail trails is they are great, paved, quiet, nice and long not too many street crossings, but boringly straight.
On the other hand there are some incredibly fun curvy trails out there but sometimes hard to find.
The end goal being that wherever I am I can open the app, ask it to “show me all the fun curvy less used paved trails between 4 and 20 miles in length within a 30 mile range”
or dirt for the mountain board runs.
I realize this is completely different from what you had in mind, so feel free to ignore me
I was using the simple “ride app” that may have come from the boosted days but recently the app got deleted I think. I really like using an app to track distance and gps speed and have a record of ride to look back on. I believe the ultimate setup I’ve found is the Voyage Systems Minnie module. It gives all the Vesc telemetry data and acts as Bluetooth module and gives ride logs with gps (currently only have one in my v5 and waiting to get on in my diy till the tariffs get situated hearing peeps getting hit with steep tariffs on delivery)
I’m currently trying the Strava app free trail but it has so much extra features I don’t see myself using. Also giving Komoot a shot but kind of having similar experience to Strava so many features for athletes to use that I just don’t need on the esk8.
I already have a Gaia annual membership I’ve used for years planning and tracking my hiking. It has nice planning features to plan longer rides in advance so I’m not sure if I’ll use that to track future routes or keep looking for additional tracking apps.
My opinion: create a simple ui app with the ability to track routes over gps. Basic ride info is elevation gain/ loss, mileage, moving time, max speed and average speed. Should have the option to start pause and finish routes and a nice touch but not totally necessary is adding photos to finished route. Finished routes should be saved for future references, ride app had a cool feature when you clicked share it gave you a great screenshot of ride data overlaid on route.
I like the Yours Truly app for this kind of stuff. Tracks your route and you can also go in and look at specific VESC data like current, mosfet/motor temps, etc
