Stormcore 100Dx alternatives

I’m getting really fed up with lacroix taking forever to send my esc (ordered it mid April, and it’s now 6 weeks overdue and for the last 10 days been sitting on “Label Created” with no response from lacroix, am I the unreasonable one here?) so I’m starting to consider canceling it and getting something else if it doesn’t move in a day or two. Are there any alternatives of similar quality that won’t take whole quarter of the year to get to me?

What specifics are you looking for in an ESC? Since you’re going with the 100Dx and not the 60D+ I am assuming you are going higher than 12S. For alternatives you have SKP Solo, MakerX D75/D100

I’m planning on ultimately building 16S battery, mostly I’m looking for a hardware that is tried and tested to reduce chances of it dying on me in the middle of nowhere (ofc I’m aware that there is always a risk of that). Motors are rated for 85A max so I’d probably leave it at 75A anyway.

makerx D100, i didn’t say D75 for a reason

My 100dx exploded after minimal use, during throttle pwm calibration and they only offered 15% off so im moving to a skp solo, looks like the best option for higher voltages

What was the reason

headroom, we shouldn’t be stepping too close to max voltage of the hardware we use.

True.

Tho, to put things in context, I believe the D75 at 16s has more voltage headroom than a 60D+ at 12s

i would expect its a ratio scale instead of just a fix amount of number on top of voltage we use

@jaykup care to chime in?

stormcore: 60v fets on a 50.4v battery. 16% headroom
d75: 85v fets on 67.2v battery. 21% headroom

(i’m pretty sure the stormcore has 60v fets)

I thought you couldn’t cancel orders with lacroix?

Chargebacks are a thing

6monthes tho?
Edit: I read the post wrong :joy:

Just a heads up lacroix doesn’t cancel orders under any circumstances.

They flat out refuse for most people.

If you ask nicely they might let you pay a 15% restocking fee and cancel the order they have been extremely late in fulfilling.

IMO it’s an awful way to run a business, but it’s their business to run.

Like @jack.luis said, explore a chargeback for undelivered goods if you paid with a credit card, but you are likely beyond the chargeback period.

thanks for the reminder of never ordering from lacroix

My bank has 120 day period for chargeback so I still have plenty of time, otherwise I’d already have done it. Right now I’m still trying to contact lacroix but they didn’t respond to neither of mails I wrote over past 6 days which for me is the main reason for considering the chargeback. I mean, if they can’t give me the update on my order for a week it doesn’t bode well for when I’ll require support with their product

Sometimes you can just threaten the charge back and that will get a shitty business to finally get off their ass and actually ship the product to you.

I’ve had to do it before after a non esk8 store kept making and dropping new products while they didn’t ship out other already made items for over a month. I purchased with my debit card so it would have been hard to actually do a charge back but they didn’t know that

+1 for the solo. It also gives you headroom for more amps in the future if you upgrade your motors.

Thanks everyone for suggestions, thankfully my stormcore finally is on its way so fingers crossed I wont need replacement anytime soon, but if I do I’ll probably go with MakerX
