lol, thanks for putting it all out on display.

To save $10-20 worth of cable per board and maybe a pound or two of weight? Thats so silly lol. I would be so paranoid after accidents of phase wires or any wire for that matter shorting out on the chassis.

Not to mention the trucks/mounts/motors all being the negative too

Oh I didnt even think of that! A tiny enamel insulator between my phase cables and the ground?! Theres just no way man :joy:

I’m not sure Moe has either.

Maybe you should read up on why the negative on your battery is grounded to the chassis of your van and decide then if it’s cause for your hysteria.

You’re not selling me on the safety of this system.

I fucking hate that the chassis of the van is negative as every time I touch a positive wire on it, I get shorts.

Everything in the 12v system in the van is fused as well, so if the short was significant enough, the fuse would blow.

Is the positive line fused in these boards? Or are the escs the fuses? :joy:

ā€œJust because cars do itā€ isn’t really an explanation of why it is done here and what safety measures have been taken to ensure that the lightning powered murder board doesn’t actually murder anyone.

Shorting a 12v car battery with pissy little wires to hook up accessories is one thing…. We all know that shorts in esk8 can be a lot different. Cooking escs would be my main concern.

Sounds like touching it is your problem haha

Sure, but accidents happen. A lot fewer accidents would happen if the whole chassis wasn’t live.

Also elephant in the room. 12v battery or much more than 12v esk8 battery

Is the esc housing grounded to the -ve or only the Bec or 5v on vesc? I don’t have my meter handy/can’t remember

As far as I know, neither, they’re isolated. Also, the integrated regulator and the battery share a common ground, so it’s not one or the other.

FTFY?

I’m pretty sure this is an option he’s posing as less dangerous when being shorted while…

This is another option implying that any esk8 battery will be higher voltage.

I’m looking forward to the next stooge board with seat belts and air bags

If airbags are not single use, I am ready to pre-order.

So far we’ve heard ā€œbecause cars (and houses, seriously wtf Moe :joy:) hurrrr durrrrrā€

Still waiting to hear how this is safe, or anything other than a liability to the customer to save Moe time and money.

i’ll just plop this here
do with it what you will

You’re talking 350 to 800v… esk8 voltage is still considered elv at least here anyway.

esk8 voltage is still higher than car LV, which is only 12-16V

esk8 LV is only 3.3-5V
