SRB Big wheel conversion

Here are a couple big wheel SS GTAs in the works.

#1 is a shop project for us try the big wheel.

#4 is a customers board who had asked for a GTA, then decided it was Big wheel time once it was completed.

I feel like these tires are way too big to be on a skateboard, but as far as tires go, they look pretty damn sweet.

What kind of gear ratio and motor kv y’all using for these big wheels?

I wonder how much weight adds compared to a BRP wheels set up

They weigh double. 5lbs for the big wheel with spur, 2.5lbs for the BRP with spur

I think they look huge too. I am using 15T motor 78T spur. The tires are 10” diameter. It hits 52mph on the bench.

Do you think these are bigger than a onewheel Pint tire?

Maybe these are a bit narrower.

I was wondering if these are the smallest possible cart tires…

10” diameter should be same as pint and less than xr. But pretty sure these are a like an inch or two narrower

Damn! That’s pretty chunky.

This thing is baller! How did it end up feeling? I like the look of this a bit more than the v6.

V6 - 001

I held off on deciding if I wanted to go to Kart tires for a while, wanting to try them first as it’s a big change. Moe came out to AZ a couple months ago and I was able to jump on both a V6 and a Monsoon with CST trucks and karts.

Wow was I impressed. Grip was great, comfort was huge and rolling over imperfections felt a whole lot better. So myself and another AZ guy decided to send out boards home with Moe to get converted.

I opted for 12mm axels so that I am able to run more traditional eskate wheels and tires in the future. Will they bend, time will tell but so far so good.

That’s so cool! So, you did the 17" width hangars to accommodate the kart tires, but with a 12mm spindle, did Moe make you custom hubs? Do you foresee any issues swapping to tiny wheels on such a wide axle? Sorry for all the questions, I’m taking notes for if I decide on a superspine or v6 within the next year, because if I do, I will want mine to be modular like that.

That’s correct, 17” with 12mm axels. I haven’t had a chance to fully try the small wheels as this week a couple days after getting it back I took a hard slam and am recovering. (Yay for gear and helmets!) Moe used the same hubs, different bearings to adapt it for the request.

It’s a bit of a risk that they might bend but I’m feeling good about it so far with the little amount of riding I’ve been able to do on it. If it does bend I’ll move up to the full 5/8” axels.

But I did slide a wheel on just for a quick fitment test. It seemed like it would be fine except for extra axel sticking out a bit wider than the tire.

Here’s a photo of a 7” nova on a hubba rim on one side and a kart on the other.
