I finally received my AwithZ P30C and after some extensive reading about copper + nickel welds from that thread :
I’d like to try a 0.2 copper +0.1 nickel weld. I’m in France, so EU sources are preferred.
As for the nickel, we have the very reliable nkon.nl but they don’t sell any copper.
Where do you source yours ? EU or Ali ?
Instead of ordering strips, I order rolled sheets from ebay, and cut them to size.
I don’t think many esk8 batteries use 10mm wide strips anymore.
The P30C is easily capable of welding 0.2mm copper under nickel.
Even less welder power is required if one uses nickel plated steel atop copper.
Stainless steel lowers the power required even more, as does using Nelvick’s welding flux.
The less power required means the electrodes wear slower and dump less heat into the cell, which might increase cell longevity, but perhaps not by any significant degree.
