SMOKED DV6S (my fault)

Just smoked Maker X DV6S Today. I was dicking around trying to do ebrake style hockey stops when all of a sudden smoke started spilling out of my board. It’s likely that the summer weather and the constant maximum breaking caused an overcurrent and a short. This is not a diss To MakerX Or their products. I found this ESC worked well and I was not using it for its intended use. This is a warning to everyone reading DONT USE UR BREAKS TO SLIDE!!! As for me, I had a spare DV6 Pro on hand and I will be swapping it in

Vescs often blow up from quick changing rpm, be that unloaded or violent loss of traction. Sad to see another one smoked. I personally decided to never spun up any vesc unloaded after my last incident.

Just a heads up try not to breath in that smoke and ash too much as it’s quite toxic.

i will say that the solos are really good at not doing this. running full current mode braking hard enough to send the wheels into reverse on dozens of occasions and the esc didn’t care

I’ve also done it plenty on the D100S but there’s a difference in the violence of the grip loss of you lose it by accident or on purpose. If you loose it by accident it’s probably fine on every setup. On purpose though, things get different

it’s always been on purpose for my last post. also had my fair share of accidentals

To give the DV6s some credit, I did it at 15mph on high friction pave like 20 times over
