Board’s been working well, but after I switched to a different deck and wrapped the phase wires, I must have done something to short it. I can’t figure out how I did it.
The connector on the battery has obvious signs of damage. The wire and the connector had some heat to it. Can someone help me diagnosis it? I have a multimeter, but beyond checking voltage and continuity I’m a newb.
Voltage would be a good one to inspect. Hopefully it’s near the same as when you last used it. Potentially tear down the pack and visually look at it? Maybe your XT just melted.
I think it might happen because the connection was loose. I lost a loop key because it was not fully inserted and @b264 figured out for me. Tagging @b264 for you.
There is a small resistor in the xt90s to provide the antisparkyness.
If the connection wasn’t fully in then that may be the problem. Cut that one off and replace it but please only cut one wire at a time. While the connector is off then check voltage on the pack. Depending on the bms, if you did indeed short the battery then you may have cooked it. Is that a TB kit?
Yes, as @esk8 mentioned, this XT90S vibrated loose while you were riding and it blew up the resistor inside. No biggie, you just need a new connector on the end and always use small cable ties on XT90 / XT90S / XT60 to keep them together. Your battery is fine.
Also when you solder a new connector on a battery,
ONLY WORK ON ONE WIRE AT A TIME
Fully insulate that connection and/or wrap with tape or anything before you take the other wire loose. If those touch, you’re S.O.L.
