Putting slime in AT tires - does it actually work? People are saying mixed things some say it’s worked great for them, others say that due to the small size of the wheels and the high RPM and centrifugal force generated, the slime gets pushed out of the inner tubes completely.
No idea about slime but I use it on my mountain bikes. Also wonder about anti punture tire liners and does anybody use them???
I tried it in Bergs. It didn’t help at all.
Yeah I heard from one other that they don’t work well in bergs but maybe they work better in 7 or 8 inch tires
What abot tire liners?
I’ve tried both neither worked for me. Correct tire pressure helps alot with punctures and tears
I used to get flats every 20ish rides on my 6x2 tires. I put slime in them and haven’t gotten a flat in 70+ rides. Anecdotal, but it works for me.
I use somewhere between 2-4 oz on all my 8 inch tires.
I do it because I think it may help with balancing some.
- not sure if it is true.
I have never had a flat on any of these 8s…
Not sure if that is luck or the slime…
All of this perfectly describes my slime usage as well.
Do you go off-road as well?
Well.
Fuck this fucking jinx of a fucking thread.
Motherfucker.
Went out.
12 miles in… Weird slow down and shaking and sure enough…
My first official flat…
Will open it up here in a bit to see what cut it…
I do.
Not a ton .
But I have slime on my off road tires as well…
Even for slime there are limits
Yeah.
Big cut.
Curious to see the tube.
Im thinking liners and slime or double liner and slime
Works really well for small punctures, for something big it doesn’t help, like a big thorn that is around 6 mm in diameter, ask me how I know
Also doesn’t work for any kind of tear damage, just punctures, on my first ride with 6.5" tires I managed to get 3 of them flat at the same time, after slime never again neither in them or 8" tires, apart from one bad luck with the really huge thorn and when using some cheap ultra soft and crappy tire
Haha, sorry!
