Slick revolution 120 mm foamies

I follow a bunch of Esk8 vendors on insta and I a l r e a d y saw someone got their hands on a Chinese transparent knockoff of these foamies smh. May order some for science…

Im very interested. I want to see someone cut one up for science, I want to see the “foamies” if they are actually in the generic version.

Came across this review and now I want a pair.

They look pretty soft, wonder what kind of mileage they will get before they are all chunked.

I wonder what kind of milage they get, but in the other aspect. If they increase rolling resistance they will decrease your range, and one of the many things I like about polyurethane longboard wheels (versus pneumatic wheels) is the long battery range you get from the low rolling resistance.

Depending on the actual duro, the smaller contact patch could result in a good mix between the pneumatic and thane wheels

For some reason, this comes to mind

This is not for electric longboards, though…

Tiny bit chaper than from Slick Revolution, if you’re a cheapskate.

I like em, I just don’t know if I $100 like em, ya know? Why are wheels so expensive? It’s like 3$ in materials prob lol.

Hope they get a good review

So many reasons

Its like saying why are signs so expensive? It only costs $10 in material to build them. Someone has to get an education, keep up with modern trends, design, prototype, pitch, sample, amend, hold meetings, have overheads and eventually produce it.

Wheels require 10k molds. Those molds have to be designed. Designing molds costs money, pouring thane costs money, storage costs money, moving things around the world costs money, marketing things costs 5 x more than producing them.

It adds up ridiculously fast and half the end users can’t comprehend value so all along the way you’re constantly challenged by people asking why your $3 product is $100 haha.

Anyone who’s gone from abec clones to genuine abecs knows why quality urethane cost more.

Why do molds cost 10k? Not being a jerk, I really want to know.

I am not an expert on the matter but some quick logic would say that if you have one mold and you need to make 10,000 wheels it would take roughly four million years and you might get outdone by a competitor.

So you need lots and lots of molds. They all have to be manufactured, after being designed, tested and qualified

Makes sense, wonder how many wheels they can mold at once. I’d like to see it.

Molds also wear out. I have been around hundreds of molded plastic parts that have been changed over to sintered titanium (an additive manufacturing process). Despite the much higher costs of the machines and materials the savings in molds over the life of a production run makes the titanium cheaper. Since it is lighter and stronger to begin with it works out to a pretty good deal.
