These tires I originally tried a little over a year ago, they were sold by lacroix, I liked them quite a bit so I had some made for me…are these the tires you are asking about?

These are 8.5x3” tuovt

But you need kind of a massive hub for them

Like this one, it’s made to order by @3DServisas for finality gear drives.

Apart from looking super sexy, is there any advantage for the 3” wide tires vs something skinnier like the SKP “lacroix” tires?

The tire width doesn’t add much in my opinion, since the tire still ovals out and your contact patch remains relatively similar to many other tires. The reason I like these so much is because they come out almost perfect smooth. Like imagine less then 0 wobble from a tire…to the point where 40mph feels like 25. It’s just a better tire

Useful when crossing railroad tracks I assume

Or just about anything else. Running over squirrels, small rats…you name it

Wide contact patch has most notable benefits imo when ridden on extremely slick(real world: only wet) streets. Possibly also rides better in grass, but I’m not entirely sure about that, and I’m pretty sure that’s really only for the back/drive wheels. Most importantly, wider contact patch has more grip when cornering(again, especially in the wet).
On pneumatics, however, most of that can be mirrored by running lower tire pressure.

Ummm this depends build types and conditions. Wider doesnt always mean better

Edit: spell check :joy:

Those two statements are directly incompatible…

My bad doesnt*

Cool cool I thought so lol it broke my brain for a second.
I agree, I was simply stating the benefits I’ve personally noticed when riding them.
Downsides of note are weight, size, and potentially(build dependent) increased chance of wheelbite.
Wide wheels seriously shine in the wet though. I’ve ridden in hurricanes o.o

Yeah I agree with both y’all lol. But the fact that these tires are 3” wide doesn’t do much for them when once they are inflated you still have a fairly small contact patch…unless you underinflate them
