@Skyart what is the maximum motor KV you recommend running with Solos at 18s?

Is anyone running 151kv @18s on these?

205kv is probbaly the max i would recommend, if you are willing to deal with the iron losses. We are running 245 on the 100mph board…buts its risky for sure

used to, they ran great. went to 173kv and i’m maxed out at 140a, no issues. gonna upgrade to 205kv awd hopefully before carve seattle but if not, the 173’s will run just fine
the log below is from a track session so most of it was aggressive riding

I’ve also got 245Kv for mine, we’ll see who’s board blows up first and compare notes :call_me_hand:

Im running the 151s on 5/1 4gs on 18s. Solid performance. Sub 40mph but not by much and im almost 200lbs. Blasts past lacroix builds on seatown hills

Thanks for jumping in fellas! Yeah we have a bunch if these out there now, and all our Magnetic R models run 151kv, albeit 14s for most, but a few also run 18s 151kv and 18s 173kv

RS+ runs 18s 205kv 4wd

What ratio does the RS+ run?

I’ve successfully run 205kv at 18S. Worked without issues, besides being very noisy and very hot lol.

4:1 reduction bioboards steel gear drives, 6485 205kv, onsra 115 wheels so constant high rpm use. Amazing power output, with truly stupid amounts of torque off the line. Just a bit impractical for anything besides racing.

RS+ and R both run 1:3.6

Firmware update day :dizzy_face::hot_face::hot_face::hot_face:

Cranking these out. We have New Fw!!

solo.bin (512.0 KB)

Anyone using Solo I highly recommend uploading this FW!

Changes:

Phase filters are now active in this fw
Overall smoother operation (older firmware sometimes yields a jerky feel when returning to throttle from center, this has been resolved)
Higher ABS ceiling: 200AMP absolute current max
Higher motor current : 150amps tested in field…I still recommend not going higher than 140amps, this is all also motor dependent make sure your motors can handle this type or current.

All solo orders ship with this FW as of a week ago.

AND discount code “AMPS” has been permanently enabled for 15% off Solo, spread the work and don’t forget to use the code! We have a few pending shipments and some crazy mail stuff with 2 packages getting lost but all solo orders will be shipped today and we are well stocked to take on more Solo orders.

We have a very limited number of gray blue, and red heatsinks. This is a forum only thing for you guys and word of mouth, if anyone wants one of these colors for their solo its free with a solo purchase, just let me know somehow, DM/email/telegram/insta/whats app/fb, lol i have most common chat channels

no overcurrent faults even maxing the solos out on launches. the fw update is a must have if you run a solo. before the update, i was able to cause overcurrent faults basically on demand from a launch.
Log is from Sidewinder

Whats the special sauce with this new firmware that enables these improvements? What was standing in the way of these improvements previously? What did it take to achieve these improvements?

Anything else I should know before installing it?
Going to be flashing it from a windows 11 laptop through usb c if that changes anything.

I am not smart enuf to answer most of these. However i can say through use and trial and error and some refinement that maybe @shaman can chime in on we were able to achive more desirable riding results. All hardware is exactly the same these are only firmware changes.

I guess one change is that stock FW came with Mxlemming observer, this observer is not provinf to be stable at high load on solo, at least not as stable as Original Ortega. So the FW update adreases this. Just one example

Load it! And run detection, set ABS to 200 and fault stop time to 50ms

Is there a specific side of the esc I should be flashing it to? Or does either side work?
