Should I buy a Onewheel Pint?

This is really awesome. She gets serious good wifey points

Yep, the esplanade is one of my favorite stretches of road. Empty at night usually too

Did you get it?

Dude. dude. dude. yes.

Got delivered at 7:30 last night…

We had left for a Wailers concert so I only got to see if after that last night… which I barely remember…

I did power it on and go back and forth in the garage and it worked.

This morning I got to tinkering with it.

and Voila.

Did 7.5 miles around the neighborhood.

Everything seems to be working fine.

This thing is so much bigger than the PX dude…

I am kind of at a loss as to where to place my feet even…

I set the tire to 16psi for now.
I might try a smidge lower even.

there were a few times it felt squirly.
but mostly all good.

I definitely feels faster than the PX pretty much the whole time.

I don’t think I hit pushback.only got to 17.8

did a few curb drops which felt really solid.

for me 7.5 miles on the Onewheel is a super long ride. so that is a good mayden voyage.
and my front knee did not bother me like it does on the PX.

So.
I am pumped.
Great first impression.
really looking forward to doing more with it.

That’s awesome! It will take a bit to get used to, especially coming from the PX. You can really dig into the power in a way that you can’t on PX or XR. Eventually, as you develop trust with that GT power, it changes the way you ride. For me it’s more fun, less worry about nosedives, more freedom. Feel free to hit 20mph on a flat road, you’ll be fine on anything over 50% charge.

I’m actually rocking 20psi in the treaded tire. I really didn’t notice much difference riding at the lower psi, so I figured might as well get more range. Now I’m used to it and it doesn’t bother me at all. The tire does break in after 150 or so miles.

I dig the fender mod. Still haven’t done mine. How many inches up did you cut?

Dude. dude. dude.

On the GT I did 5 in the back and 3.5 in the front.

kind of winged it really…

So day 2.
24 miles in.
did 8 miles at lunch.

I know the GT and the PX are both Onewheels and a similar idea.

But they are such different beasts!!!

the standing platform alone.
I hang off the pint the whole time.
the GT cradles my whole foot.

The PX I always felt like I was putting along but not really moving.
The GT you feel like you are really moving.

Out of the flatlands.
For enjoyment I really kept the PX to more flat areas. and took it super easy on hills.

The GT I can just go. and it goes.

I am sitting at 18 for a top speed still.

It seems I unlocked a new body change…
my front quads seemed to get fatigued really fast.

which is weird. I mean I spend enough time on these toys I figured I had decent left strength…

so need to do squats and what not.
my front knee was bugging me quite a bit after 6 miles today…

I feel a bit sketchy riding fakie… the tail seems to sit lower.
So I have been riding switch on easy stretches to mix it up. that really helps.

I am still pretty lost as to where to put my feet…

How do you feel about the concave foot pads? Did you check to see if you have the firmware update? That did change the ride feel for me.

Also, I encourage you to try high line and flow. I ride most the time in high line, but I like flow a lot for just carving.

I do feel my quads and rear calf muscle on longer rides. I think on a onewheel you weight and unweight a lot more than on esk8s. Plus the balancing is just much more dynamic than balancing on an esk8. The one time I did a couple mile long rocky trail ride, I was sweating my ass off and my quads were burning.

One big difference between PX and GT for me is toe side turns. I can carve a toe side on my PX sharp and fast with no worries at all. The same turn at speed feels kinda sketchy on my GT. Just don’t have the same leverage on the GT compared to my toes hanging off the PX.

I’m just hung up on the size still…

remember. I have almost no time on an XR.
so the PX is my only reference…

they look nice to me and the grip tape is pretty much the same as the Lloat life stuff input on the PX.

I am pretty sure it came with the latest firmware.
6100.
I am always on the app and It has not asked me to update…

I am now at a whopping 35 miles…

So. on the PX I was never able to tell a huge difference in the modes. I think I leave it in Apex.

I could not tell a huge difference with the GT yet either…
I started on Flow.
kicked it up to High line. and tried apex a little bit

I think I have mostly ridden in High line.

you know. I wonder how much this has to do with it feeling top heavy like folks said on the YouTubes…

My wife asked me to take her Amazon stuff to the UPS store earlier. I said no because I didn’t feel like driving…
She asked again and I thought. ooh I can take the GT.

So I did that and ended up getting a 6 mile ride out of there… it is only half a mile away…

It felt really squirly on my way down…
lots of wobbles.

I think I had figured out a pretty solid stance on the PX with my front heel hanging off and my back toes hanging off … kept good diagonal tension.

I have not figured that out on the GT.

it is downhill and then uphill to go the UPS store, so I would not have even thought about using the PX.

again I felt like the GT really moves.

recorded top speed is a new PR for me at 18.1 lol…

I was not really warmed up and the front thigh fatigue kicked in quick dude…
and at the end my knee hurt pretty good.
so I may never really to go on super long tides.
but these short rides are way more fun.

also check out this spot…

Good spot for bonks.

PX to GT is a big weight and size change. The XR feels noticeably lighter and more playful than a GT. And still the GT is my go to. In the car world, there is a saying “there’s no replacement for displacement”. The equivalent PEV saying would be “there’s no replacement for voltage”. This is especially true for a onewheel. The power in my hilly area is too comforting. Also the GT makes curb nudges super easy (lean back, pop your hips forward when the wheel is about to touch the curb, level the board as it starts to climb the curb, done). The more you ride the GT, the less you’ll want to ride the PX. Unless carrying the board is a factor.

I bet your foot angle is contributing to knee pain. Gotta try a more square stance.

Skrrrt!

Your bonks look better than mine. I’m just not practicing them enough.

good eye dude.
I took your advice and did that on the PX and it really seemed to help.

I have tried with the GT and keep turning my foot…

I love riding in my flops. Put the board on flow and just have a relaxed carvy float.

Dude, I wonder if i can coin the term “Tai Chi ChuanWheel”…

It is kind of my new thing in the morning…
I hop on the PX with my flip flops on, and do the tiniest of cruises in front of the house stretching out.

The PX definitely got knocked down to toy status after the arrival of the GT…

For probably 5 days I didn’t even look at the PX and only rode the GT.

then I went out one night with Benji for him to try the GT and I rode the PX and it was so good.

My GT is super wobbly and it has an oval tire.

So I have a major love hate relationship with the GT right now…

I love it because it can really move me…
I hate it because my tire is oval and now that I realized that I am obsessing about it…

I just hit up FM to see if they will send me a warranty tire, and if not, I will chance buying one from them with hopes it may be better.
And get whatever after market tire shows up first.

I should also note I got the C&R pad and think it is a nice addition.

Wow. That thing is quite a bit wider. I read it’s made of wood. That true? Worth it, you think? Sucks to hear you got a bad tire. That would definitely put a damper on the GT experience.
