Serious Controller issues

So, i decided to change my sons controller cause he has dropped it so many times that sometimes it gliches while he’s riding.
I paired new controller and went through the controller setup on the vesc tool. After completed setup, i disconnect from vesc tool, turn off board.
The issue is this, when controller and board on, it works perfect, BUT, if i turn off the controller, the motor on the board starts to spin at full speed. This only happens when i turn off controller with the board on and if i turn on controller with the board on, the controller works perfect.
I never seen this before that if you turn off the controller, the motors start spinning at full speed. Need help with this issue.

Forgot to mention that i redid the whole motor and controller setup on vesc tool 5X and the issue is still the same.

Sounds like the failsafe is not set on the receiver.

When you bind the remote you need to remote the bind key before turning off the receiver (keep the remote in neutral)

yeah its a fail safe issue. mine did the opposite to you. it would lock the brakes. once i paired it with the failsafe, its been good

The funny thing is that when i program the old controller back, it has no issues, i dont remember doing the failsafe thing on the old one.

Like others said it’s very likely the fail save.
Looks like older versions where always adjust right, newer versions not. I heard this from some other people as well who bought that remote just in the last time.

It’s most definitely the fail safe

Also, check your trim pot. It needs to be set at the ppm midpoint, else when failsafe kicks (when handpiece is turned off) in it can accelerate or brake.

Sounds like a failsafe fail to be safe to me.

Do i have to do the remote controller setup on vesc tool after doing the binding?

i would imagine so. is your enclosure hard to get in and out of?

no, 8 screws.
