I was given some used 9“ Mudpluggers for my LaCroixsannt MTB and I ordered fivestars.
I originally ordered Rockstar II XL but they are not being made / shipped / whatever, I’ve been waiting since April for the shop I ordered them at to come out of its ass.
Anyway, I ordered fivestars and they arrived promptly but I have a problem at the back.
I cannot get the tire to fit because it rubs on the motor pulley.
I could make some spacers and get it to work but then I wouldn’t have enough threads on the axle left to tightly fit a nut.
So it’s back to square one.
Has anyone got a solution, tried something that worked?
I’m still on my 8“ (now) slicks and that sucks for a mountainboard.
Thanks
i man i have some bronze ones i’m not using that i could sell ya if you want. they do have some curb rash tho
it also looks like mboards may have some in the gray and silver
That‘d be nice, I’m in Germany though.
The stupid shop doesn’t even answer my emails any more, I even sent them a cancellation mail because I don’t want to wait any more and I want my money back because I’m not the Baron moneybags von richfuck but to no avail.
I ordered in April and they told me they‘d be manufactured and ready to be shipped in June.
Insert the „well, we’re waiting“ meme here.
ahh, that sucks. how much tread on your axle do you have until it’s no longer to fully engage the nut? can you space the pulley out from the wheel any more?
I think I could space the pulley out a bit but I’m worried it‘s not slotted into the rim any more then.
I think I have maybe half a thread I would normally have?
I‘m not riding like that.
I think the main problem is axle length.
No matter the width of the rim, I need space on the axle to fit it.
For example, if I get wheel spacers for the fivestars to stretch the tires I may not have enough space on the axle to fit a nut.
I need rims that have the same inner width than rockstars / fivestars but a wider outer rim space.
I can stretch the tire and it would fit.
I guess.
The Hyperrims wheel pulleys would work with adding a spacer (another bearing to test the whole shebang) but then I‘d have too little thread on the axle left.
I‘m trying wheel spacers next.
if you flip the nut backwards so the nylock is against the bearing, it could work. i’ve had to do it before for the same reason. (obviously not the ideal situation tho)
It appers to me that your buldging sidewalls are interfering with the belt. And that a wider rim would give you the stretch you need.
Also, I believe that on those wheels the inner bearing sets recessed inboard of the wheel’s lip.
The Rockstar Pro II XL has the bearing out flush with the inner lip of the rim.
I’ve just recently purchased two sets of Rockstar Pro II XL directly from MBS.
I have 25mm spacers built @Dinnye in route to me now:
Using this configuration still utilizes the standard 38mm of axle space (8mm bearing x 22mm spacer x 8mm bearing) as any standard wheel. Yet stretching the the hubs width out to 80mm.
And my rims are considerably more narrow the Dinnye’s.
Yeah, I had them on order since April but nothing happened.
The mails i wrote were left unanswered apart from the one cancelling my order.
So anyway, I’ll try some spacers for the fivestars next and a regular M12 nut with loctite, we’ll se how that goes.
It’s only for the rear, the front is fine.
Waddayaknow, threats get results.
Supposedly the rims are on the way with DHL express and are ready for shipping on the 28th of August.
I’ll be a monkey’s uncle.
