Ride Ze Shoopuf DIY build

I’ve been riding and tweaking this for a couple of months now thanks to a lot of help from this community but figured it’s about time I posted all the details on here as my first diy build.

I’ve called it Shoopuf which is a final fantasy reference. A big beast that can go over any terrain.

Parts:

Maytech mountain board deck
Seahorse case top mounted enclosure
Flipsky offroad kit (8in pneumatics, trucks, motor mounts, pulleys and belt, pretty much same as syl-08 board)
2 x flipsky 6374s 190kv
Flipsky dual FSESC 6.6 on aluminium heatsink
2 x Turnigy 10ah lipos

Top speed - theoretically 50kmh but 40kmh is as high as I’ve pushed it without getting wobbles

Range - just ran from about 4.18 per cell to 3.77 per cell and got 17.3km. I’m getting between 16-17wh/km and that’s on a mixture of smooth tarmac, rough pavement and a bit of gravel and grass.

Awesome build, just about almost done with my first one as well. Good idea having foam in the box to hide whats behind and i’m sure it’s giving your lipos nice safe padding for when your going off roading

Yeh, thanks mate, makes me feel way better having them a little cushioned. Wish I’d left the plastic wrap on the esc though, got too excited when I got it and cut it off and only later realised people leave it on.

If I could do it again I would have a separate mount for the esc at the back top of the deck and have more room in the current box for a little bag of tools.

Wasn’t liking my enclosure, particularly the length of deck that it took up meaning I felt my back foot was always too far back at speed.
Got some new kit from Ali Expiss and decided to have a metal enclosure at the rear to fit my fsesc, the new enclosure in the middle for my batteries is not as high and is mounted sideways so I can use more of my deck. Whilst wide it doesn’t surpass the width of my trucks so feels safe eno gh.
It also means I can later just about squeeze in 4 x lipos for extra range if I desire.
The bag on top is screwed down and houses the series adaptor so I can easily charge without unscrewing the enclosure although I am still waiting on some balance cable extenders to arrive.
The esc fits snuggly but currently the heatsink rattles inside so am going to buy some gue gloop (any suggestions?) to secure it and put over some of the electronics.
The glands are ip rated and do a good job of stopping tugging although they do stick out a fair bit.
As fun as this was soldering is a bitch for the inexperienced when it comes to xt90 cables, took way longer than it should.
Also need to fill the old holes in my deck that look rough as and probably affect the structure of the deck, any suggestions?

Thanks

@abusfullofnuns was it you talking about needing voltage readers on lipos?

Thanks for checking @Flasher but it wasn’t me. I don’t recall seeing that conversation either.

You’re right. It was @fessyfoo

He’s got a thread about it

I’ve gone for voltage alarms, once I’ve got the balance lead extenders I’ll have them in that top bag so I can hear them better. I broke a couple of bones in my foot a while back so right now my foot starts aching well before my battery runs out anyway :joy: built in voltage alarm

Flipsky dual fsesc 6.6 has failed like apparently so many do, only one green light. Looks like I’ll have to send back to China and then wait for repair/replacement. Lipos now on a storage charge and the Wowgo is going to get alot of attention over the next couple of months
