Ride Tracking App

What’s everyone’s favorite, MOST ACCURATE app to use to track your rides? I’ve tried strava which is pretty accurate but has sometimes been off. Relive said I went 70 MPH on a WogoAT2 which I can promise you it can not do. I tried Ride but that seems a bit useless. Anyone got a better one to use?

If you do use Strava, check out http://wandrer.earth. It tracks unique miles you have ridden which is insanely cool.

This is giving me Reddit flashbacks

I use Metr, Strava and Relive. Usually Strava is pretty accurate. There’s a Strava thread on the forum to share usernames

I would be interested to take a look at the privacy policy on Wanderer. While extremely cool, a data breach could track down your personal address pretty easily if you ride from home

Granted if you have google location history on it’s not much worse

I use Relive and compare distance with Freesk8 app. The GPS apps like Relive tend to have patchy areas. I kept on getting random high speeds in one particular area that didn’t make sense, the altitude was also pretty jumpy too in certain spots. I still use it though as the video feature is a nice way to share my ride and see my top speed spots.
I’d like to try the Stormcore app but it’s only compatible with Apple at the moment :frowning:

Does the Metr app require a VESC to use it or can I just use it for tracking? I’d like to try it on a ride or two to see how well it works.

Yea the photo/video integration is what I wanted to use Relive for, but it puts them at the wrong spot as well as the very inaccurate speed turned me very off it. The most accurate I got was apple watch + strava but I was hoping someone would know something better.

stormcore (needs bluetooth connection)
yourstruly (doesn’t need anything but can connect on ble)
freesk8 (log module)
mert (log module) (i don’t have this)

Last I checked, it did.

It does require vesc since it gets data from the uart port

It’s been a while since I checked, but I believe it may only require an ESC to boot and then will work without it.

Well it won’t display all the information it gets from vesc obviously

Speed, motor rpm, amps voltage, blah blah

I’m liking Yours Truly, you’ll need a standard BT module to collect data over your ride.
I like that it records your GPS and estimated distance from the VESC.

So it looks like yours truly is the best option, I could just order an Iphone 6s unlocked for cheap with no SIM card ?
Thinking I just use my android as a hot spot for the iPhone to have a signal to initiate the GPS. And the iPhone would just connect to my sotmcore100D+ via BlueTooth?

can we just start calling metr this?

I love my mert pro

Yes.

Phone doesn’t even need to be unlocked. Check if the the 6s isn’t too old to be able to install the app

Recently I’ve been using the ski mode on my suunto smart watch as both a speedo and a route tracker.

So far the gps accuracy has been spot on for speed, altitude and route.

On a down side though it now thinks im athletetic and gets real bitchy on non ride days.

I just use Google maps with the Timeline feature enabled. Tracks where you have been completely in the background with a slight accuracy sacrifice and it doesn’t tell you your speed. It does record it at some point to be able to tell the difference between walking, biking, and being in a car. (biking = esk8)
