If you switch it to the highest level, depending on outside temperature you have a few minutes before it drops down to the next level which is to be expected.
This is the case with almost all of my lights except for one of my headlights (a nitecore HC50 ) which tops out at 400 something lumens so it can maintain that for quite some time.
