What is the total cost of parts for one of these elite heli’s ? What about xclass/beast class drones?

Like 2-5k?$ 5-10k?

I window shop other hobby sites as cross training for Esk8 building.

Depends what class size you want. The ones in the video are “regular” size, class 550/600. I had a t-rex 600 with full carbon chassis and boom, that starts around $1k and you’ll easily sink another 2-3 in upgrades, plus hundreds every time you crash it as it self explodes the moment it hits the ground. The rotor head assembly with linkages is about $200 and rarely survives a crash, blades are $30-50 a set for carbon fiber.

After I went to quads, I never went past class 250 size (250mm diagonal span motor to motor). Can find a good racing rig for $500 or less, but good FPV equipment will run you another $500. It was cheaper on parts but every other crash is motor replacement on 1 or 2 arms, cracked chassis often, definitely props but those were cheap, but all the electronics survived 95% of the time.

Oh, because FPV, after every crash go running around trying to find it again.

I will say that FPV racing drones are some of the most fun I’ve had. Once you have enough practice that the controls become second nature, it’s the closet thing you get to feeling like you’re really flying. And you can just mash throttle and pitch with no consequence.

I will warn you that it is an entirely new rabbit hole. Start with running calibration over and over, adjusting your PID settings trying to get it to stay still, over correcting on everything, buying different props, different motors, spending hours trying to figure out why circular polarized antenna is better than linear, buying signal boosters. It never ends.

I’ve always marvelled at the Goblin 700 to 800 size.

That’s a ridiculously good shot.

Was wondering the other day about this.

It’s fine, trump will take it back in about 2 weeks and blame it on someone else.

6Wh/km is pretty good!

He uses the same bushings as you, too.

I thought his rear bushing was solid metal?

I run no bushes just spacers and washers. No flex at all.

Well, like in every other hobby, you can get entry level electric RC choppers from as low as $59 bucks up to the top level RC carbon construction choppers prized at thousands of dollars. Basically there is no limits and these are just electrics. You go with more robust heavy machines like RC gas turbine helicopters the bill surpasses 10k easily, you can even go 25k or 30k on real top class scale modeling gas turbine choppers.

Ugh stop reminding me. My dream is one of those smaller turboprop turbines modified to spin a generator strapped to my eskate… I just don’t have $4k to blow on a turbine.

Once you fly a 700 class heli you can’t go back to smaller ones.
Here is my Compass 7HV

I have almost every size from 150 to 700 and the 700 is the one I enjoy the most.
