thanks for the suggestions, its a sealed up herringbone gear drive, so i’m leaning toward the ESC. i’ll be conducting more indepth investigation tomorrow. need to spend the rest of the day selling my bamboo leaves as “eco sanitary tissue” while the market is still hot

That happened to me on my evolve a couple days ago…while accelerating…full brakes when I looked at the remote, the remote battery indicator was flashing as well as the connection indicator. The board was still powered on. After about a min the connection came back and I was able to ride home (slowly).
