So what, it might get down to 55F (13C)? You guys must be hurting

Meanwhile, here it was 16F(-9C) yesterday when I was skating at night, with ice all over the place

Do magnets even work when itā€™s that cold?

magnets

The battery is the main issue with cold. LiFePO4 work better but generally itā€™s only while charging them they need to be above freezing temperature. Discharging them is not as picky. They also get warm while being discharged, which makes them work better

I always have/had this weird desire to eskate on a flat frozen lake with spiked tires.

Edit: idk why I said flat frozen lakeā€¦ as opposed to all the wavy onesā€¦

I did on some perfectly flat ice (though, not a lake) and it sucked. No control at all. Hit the throttle and the wheel just spins and you donā€™t move an iota.

The spikes would definitely help. Thatā€™d probably be pretty easy to do on some polyurethane longboard wheels like TB110, just put tiny screws in them all over the place.

perfectly flat ice seems rare in fact, most of it is bumpy from wind or cars or whatever reason

Thatā€™s exactly what I was thinking! I have a handful of 107s that are too worn for street but I wouldnā€™t care putting a bunch of small wood screws in. I imagine it would be slippery as hell but in my head I feel like there could be the potential for some epic ice driftingā€¦ but I donā€™t know how ice works tbh.
