Big ol snapping turtle. He snapped at me when I got close and I didn’t want to start my ride with a flat tire. When I came back, he was in that grass in the background headed back to the creek

@andoug Dude, are those the Hoyt pocket rocket motors!? How did you get them installed on Idea hardware?! Just using a few of the motor screws!?!?

This is my first time using Hoyt motors. They had the same mounting pattern as most esk8 motors. 44 mm I think?

Interesting!

Mine have the same mounting pattern as the motor in this post.

Do you mind if I ask where you got yours? MBoards had some for a while, which is where I got mine, but they are the source of these ones.

I was really hoping to use a set of these motors on my mini build.

Yeah mine were from mboards

I like how both of these things are electric skateboards.

Probably pretty close to the very opposite side of the spectrum!!!

If you have a powerfull esk8 you should get a moto helmet. The forces are big

I hope you enjoy your shinny new toy.

I think that board looks great.

@SpankDog added Matrix III and Riptide Singularity bushings to his.

You should consider that upgrade in the future.

@mbs Matrix III with @RipTideSports Singularity bushings is a really, really great ride feel.

Thanks for the advice, totally agree. For sure, I got this new olders full cut to ride Moxi quad skates with my wife haha:grin::face_with_hand_over_mouth: it looks cute yellow painted full carbon with aramid to go with my own Moxi quads :hugs: I think full face DOT helmet is best but it’s so hot here I also have new olders cannonball full face, not quite as good as moto helmet but lighter when I just cruise on eskate below 15 mph.

Thank you, as a stock option this board is very very nice. I would probably consider dualities later in the future actually.

Amazing trucks!

Thanks. I will mount these Rogue ZM1s on the Rocket Simplex once I get to a certain skill level with the cast Bear trucks that came with the board. It’s been 20 years or more since I got a set of latest and greatest. My last set are them Randal Comp II with floating titanium axles. How things have now changed and gone to narrow slalom width trucks with precision spherical bearings and such.:victory_hand:

I wish I had the answers.

A few moths back, this same board took off on me. I put it down to RF interference. I’ve read about it on here, and figured it was a plausible answer.

Tonight, been at three boys’ brewery for a few pints, grabbed a rigger to take home. Went to Smoke ā€˜n’ barrel for one last pint.

Figured I needed some more weetbix and yogurt for breakfast tomorrow, so quick detour past the supermarket. ā€œOn throttleā€, ā€œoff throttleā€. But, the board stayed ā€œon throttleā€. It took off, and went straight through the double glazed window of St Martins pharmacy.

There was this one ā€œKarenā€ who followed me round in shock, on the phone to the po-po assumingly. She described all my clothing, hair colour, all that. A few others were freaking out, while I casually went inside to do my shopping.

I don’t know what this is going to cost me, but I assume it’s going to be more expensive than going over the bonnet of ā€œJacks Mum’s carā€ last year on the way to a friend’s brewery.

I don’t know if I should blame my VX2 remote, receiver, interconnects, or ESC. All electrics have probably done an estimated 7000km on thanes. The ESC is on replacement caps, fets, and drv chips but it hasn’t missed a beat for probably close to two years. I’m thinking either RF or UART has an intermittent fault. Perhaps cracked solder or even a fatigued JST connector. I really don’t know.

The board weighs about 15kg. There’s a double stack battery in that enclosure despite what it might look like. Our boards can be quite deadly with such types of faults.

Ooof ghost problems are the worst. No real diagnostics you can run to verify a fix other than riding and hoping for the best. Scary shit. Hopefully you’re not too banged up.
