Holy sk8tan she looks weird as hell, but the results are in, you freaking rip on that thing and she sure shreds up that dirt. I could watch that video for hours. That’s a well set up drivetrain.

Yea, she’s a ripper.
Having a kicktail while offroading is seriously fun - switching lines and being all over the trail.
And I’m only at 28 phase amps. With bigger battery and thicker wires these motors could go to 50.

Speaking of, the next upgrade is coming together:

Have you tried RKP on these? I love these kinds of boards and have both RKP and TKP ones and I strongly prefer the RKP

I tried, long time ago I had this complete on RKPs:

And initially this board had a set of RKP trucks:

But I prefer TKP, just always felt better to me.
It’s probably very subjective, but RKP feels very sharp and linear. While TKP is exponential and almost has a dead zone in the middle.

New board is getting a fresh set of Avenue TKPs:

And maybe later I’ll figure out my custom suspension:

This is like … EXACTLY why I prefer the RKP. I don’t like the exponential + dead zone, and at higher speeds it becomes even more problematic for me on the short decks. RKP feels more linear, makes me feel like I am in more control of the vehicle.

I also just had a twenty-teens motor die with a bunch of megameters on it, but not sure how many exactly. Mine seized up slowly and heated to the point of not being able to rotate anymore. I had to absolutely mash the throttle to make it all the way back home. What symptoms did yours have?

Is the rotor-stator tolerance that close? I thought there was a bit more room for thermal expansion

It definitely isn’t super close, and the aluminium can would probably expand more than the stator. I’m guessing it’s from shot bearings or something funny like the windings wearing or melting through the enamel insulation and current skips across the windings.

No.

I don’t know what seized up, because I don’t have time to take it apart, I’ve just been using a different skate.

what is that monolith providing you power?

It’s just a weird power station in the middle of a park on the foreshore.

Its got a lock on it but the lock has been busted for years… every time i roll up i dread that the lock may have been fixed

The park hosts many events, I suppose the power station is there for vendors/food trucks/audio visual etc…

The last problem was one of the phase wire got cooked close to where they come out of the casing, very difficult to solder. I think that’s also why my last flipsky vesc died. Previously, one of the sensor wires also got disconnected at and couldn’t troubleshoot it. This motor had one of the magnets break luckily I had another spear with a broken stator, so I swapped the can, so only the stator was the original one. Bearings were changed once but now started showing their age… it was time to retire it. I’m thinking of getting two Flipsky 6374 170kvs

Is that a buck for a fibreglass enclosure?

It looks like the sides are straight 90 degrees down, could end up quite difficult to release if this is the case. Best practice is to include a draft angle to help with release

I slapped the Akashas on the ION Drive yesterday and it was so dreamy.

I felt like I was gliding on the ground.

I can’t keep them here because I can’t angle the mounts up…

But the ride feels was really amazing!!!

It looks like a magic carpet its so loooowww :fire:

I got belts on the way to run the akashas but i still need to design/print pulleys for them

Those little wheels in the dark are where injured hands and munted faces come from. I still like small wheels though.
