@b264 i got these to use with the radium 125mm wheels
Itās a first edition Lanquettes Chronicle from 1549 written by Thomas Lanquet up until his death then finished by Thomas Cooper.
I own a rare book library.
Holy shit
Its the centrepiece of my library. Found it in a specialist dealer and they offered it to me. It is incredibly delicate and requires a controlled environment to keep safe.
hey brother,
what did happen here?
any comments on your work
A local guy purchased a board from @Kaly that cost over 11,000 AUD to get here.
It didnāt work. Ernesto told him to charge it. The guy tried to charge it and the charger literally exploded because it was a 110V charger rather than a 240V charger.
The board sat for over a month before this guy found me thanks to @hoytkid
By the time the board got to me, the 20s battery was at 4v.
Obviously, the battery needed to be removed so that I can replace it, but in all his wisdom, Ernesto had decided to stick a completely uninsulated pack directly into a carbon enclosure.
Typically, battery packs get wrapped in heat shrink. This way, if it needs to be removed, you can just cut through the heat shrink and easily extract the battery because only the heat shrink is stuck into the enclosure.
But you donāt get heat shrink on the $11,000 XLR. I needed to use the angle grinder to chop all of the nickel connections to the pcb so that I could remove all of the groups one by one.
So if I had any comments regarding my work, I could sum it up into
This should never have happened. The construction and installation of this battery could be considered as gross negligence. The builder most definitely knows better and considering the price paid, should have delivered better.
I donāt often edit my shit, but I was a little heated. Inflammatory comments removed
thanks for telling this episode!
Poor guy your friend. I think for that much AUD, he deserves just be happy and satisfied with the product. So in these days its better to have a meepo instead a kaly
But I guess he is happy to have you on his side as technician for this thingā¦
I just cant believe that battery design of kaly. how should anyone maintain this battery?
Looks like its made with the iphone philosophy.
One year ago, I was also temped to get an xlr. It was just looking so amazing and slick. Paired with the high price I thought this might be the āultimateā thingā¦
Thankfully I ended up here in the forum. So I can make my own (malfunctioning) boards now.
This is 100% inexcusable.
Man the color on those wheels! beautiful board.
Duuuuuuuude.
The cables look so good.
Oh shit I didnāt even notice that, the craftsmanship on this thing.
In my expert opinion; it probably shouldnāt look like that.
Tape handles for the win!!!
Theyāre not pretty but damn they are useful!
Pretty damn useful.
@That_Jamie_S_Guy cool stuff! those are some seriously beefy clamps youāve got there. I assume you made them yourself right? seeing as the clamps are compliant mechanisms, do you have any concerns about losing potential clamping strength because of their inherent strength and rigidity?
Hey,
I got a friend to machine these for me. Iāve designed them and theyāre absolutely solid!
I am a little concerned about how they will perform in the long run due to the risk of them sliding left to right along the hanger. This wasnāt apparent with the 3D printed prototype, as that deformed much more easily to match the imprecise hanger profile, however the machined part doesnāt habe that. It should be mostly mitigated with some very harsh clamping on the dogbone and a bit of loctite. Im also going to be putting a crossbar between the two holes (some m4 threaded rod with nuts, and more loctite) to help constrain that axial movement.
Just had an issue with an eBoosted battery. One p-group died and needed to be replaced.
Compared to the Kaly design, eBoosted did a great job in keeping the design very servicefriendly.
I like to share my process:
