the bed is indeed the Z axis but the ender 5 work with the same system/principel (cartesian) as their other printers.
CoreXY uses 2 motors with belts both connecter to the print head
For example if you were to move the red belt on the left outer side the print head would move diagonally, but he explains it better at 5:50 but the whole video is really educative 
(he even talked about the ender 5 )

The original handle placement below the deck (in the same holes) was in the no-so-perfect spot that it cast a shadow from the headlamp at exactly the wrong place. Like putting tape across the front of your headlights. It’s because the nose is upturned and I’m used to flat noses like the '80s Powell Peralta reissues. The situation is being rectified as you’ll see soon
