Giving it one more chance with rib stiffening :grinning:
Will post it in an hour on my blog

Fun chemical reaction I discovered while epoxyingā€¦

I had super glued the crack just to hold it in basic shape while mixing epoxy. When I applied said epoxy (loctite hysol), the superglue started smoking like crazy with a rapid exothermic reaction.

I like to think it fused the plastic together.

Interesting

Iā€™d worry that all the polymer chains werenā€™t made in the epoxy if some of the ingredients were being used for reacting with the cyanoacrylate.

But very interesting

Try putting crazy glue on a cotton ball or woolā€¦

Yeah it started catalyzing the epoxy immediately and it was solidifying immediately. Chipped it off and started fresh.

@Nomad one time in middle school, my super cool Hollister hemp belt started fraying and I super glued the fray to stop it and it burned a hole in my shirt on the way to school :sob:

@rafaelinmissouri how it happened that you lost a chain?

Isnā€™t the back piece on the first picture reversed? If you tighten the hex bolt the nut will be pulled out?

Yes it is, thanks for poiting it out! Photos were taken in a rush, next time ill double check them. It should be like the normal panel mount. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Will arrange a new image.

@Andy87
I am not 100% sureā€¦

I did not back track on the trail to go find itā€¦
I think I may have moved 20 or 50 meters before realizing it was goneā€¦

This is my quess.

The wheels sprocket hit a rock just right breaking the chainā€¦

Lots of rocks like that on that little trailā€¦

Or maybe that is the exciting story and all that that happened was my master link came looseā€¦ No half links on this time.

Thatā€™s a good information to know and good the chain just dropped when broke.

I have always said, it is better to be lucky than it is to be goodā€¦

So @Andy87
Earlier in the day yesterday I did something differentā€¦
I put the board in my car and drive to a park to ride a mountain bike specific trail.

It was crazy hardā€¦
Narrowā€¦ Twisty and rocky as hellā€¦
Pictures donā€™t do it justice.

I had to walk next to my board and pick it up a bunch of timesā€¦

And in no time I was drenched in sweat.

But it was kind of fun and definitely a challenge I want to explore moreā€¦

The chain broke in the familiar trailer near my houseā€¦
And I was able to ride back with just one chain no problemsā€¦

Yessir.

It looks super clean! What material and 3df?

I might consider printing in ABS and vapor sealing them to increase strength, especially with that layer orientation

This is ABS. Iā€™m actually really surprised by how sturdy it feels. This one is a prototype that I printed to check the fit. I just finished designing it.
