Dear god of good esk8 souls. Just returned from a test drive with neg ramp set to -3,5 s.
This is a game-changer!!!
Now it feels exactly how it should feel, almost like on my oldie analogie longbordie.
Thank you very much for this!!! <3

Yeah thatās how it felt for me. When I switched from belts to gears my board felt like it wanted to kill me, that setting fixed it right up lol
Did you end up figuring out how to do it in VESC?
In caseā¦
This is a going to teach you some really bad habits but ok
3.5 seconds is
sooooooooooooooooooo looooooooooooooooooooooooooog
longer than i last in bed even
How would you know?

Nope, I figured I would had to reconfigure whole input, which Iād rather wanted to not to do so. On the other hand, FreeSk8 app was reading params from VESC where the BT was connected but it was not detecting the other VESC.
End up in plugging usb to PC.
Like what, for example?
I believe itās a temporary setting for me, to learn the sensivity. Secondly the rolling friction forces are so big, that without this setting the ride was very jerky in cases of quick throttle releases (e.g. sudden pedestrian). Now it feels like a freeroll and I control the board with no problem, no jerks, can break quite quickly and efficiently. Way smoother.
Why do you consider this setting not so fortunate?
If I read your comment correctly, you are literally letting go of the throttle when you want to stop accelerating? You let the throttle spring snap it back to center?
If so, thatās not good. And a ramping time like yours is going to make riding anywhere that requires quick reactions really dangerous.
All of this is just my opinion
And I value that, as Iām not so experienced.
Nope, this is not really the case. Itās an option, not a rule. In general, when I ride I control the throttle all the time up and down. But in the situation when I required more dynamic speed decrease, with the default neg ramp the sudden difference was so huge it was throwing me off the board. Too big difference, too quickly.
Now I do not feel the jerk when I stop accelerating. Still have full control up and down, but smooth.
Maybe I should add I have a very poor natural free roll in this setup due to bearings bad condition and damn too tight belts (I have too short motor mounts, I need to live with that while waiting for the longer ones).
I guess when bearing replaced, belt a bit more loose and more practice and experience of riding and Iāll be pushing this neg ramp towards default value, assuming to end up somewhere in the middle.
I too have to set mine like this and you only are leaveinh the stator saturated longer i thing before it cuts out and makes just cutting throttle manageable. Also as soon as you push brake or ho back on throttle its immediate so no lag this is more pf a problem for me using anything bigger than 120mm wheels
I roll on 175 mm ![]()
After several test rides last week I must admit - itās great and it has nothing to do with breaking. Done some emergency breaking training and with a reasonable speed, I can stop almost instantly. On the other hand, thanks to ramping, the ride is smooth AF.
what fw?
