I’m having an issue with my Reacher motors and I would like some help figuring out what happened.
I have a dual motor setup using Reacher motors with an SKP Solo ESC. These motors had been working perfectly for about two years. Recently, I opened the engines because they had some play/slack and I wanted to fix it.
While the motors were open, I cleaned the inside area, including around the sensor area, using an electrical contact cleaner spray. It is the type that dries quickly.
After putting everything back together and installing the motors again, the VESC Tool no longer detects the Hall sensors. During motor detection, both motors show:
Sensors: Sensorless
Does this have a concert, or do I only have the HFI option?
If you can, try and make sure the only things you have plugged in during detection is phase wires, sensors, power, and usb for programming. Perhaps your receiver or bluetooth module is interfering with detection which can sometimes happen.
My only other thought would be faulty sensors which aren’t impossible to repair from what I heard but I believe @AdityaAurora has done it for Radium motors (AKA the same thing as reachers).
If everything looked good internally then, I suspect faulty sensors.
Yes, I already performed all the tests and also verified the ESC with other motors. The ESC works normally. The problem is definitely with these motors. The issue started after I cleaned them with contact cleaner spray.
I busted a sensor in one of the motors on my mach and switched it over to one of the sensorless modes.. there was enough sensorless options in vesc tool to find one that just worked well with my motor without tweaking anything.
the motor makes a very slight noise now when starting from a stop, but apart from that it’s good as gold
You guys encouraged me, I had even already swapped the motors for two flip skis I had here, but the difference in quality between the reacher and the flip ski is quite large. I’ll try using the HFi and see how it works.
