Radium/Reacher motors hot to the touch?

Vesc tool bug? If you have a Bluetooth module try setting it with the mobile app.

This isn’t happening.

Assuming the magnet stays under the rated temp.. then it should be fine and that’s why they give it a rating at that temp. There’s variation based on size n shape but they give a temp rating for a reason.

220c or 170c or whatever the rating isn’t the limit and in practice could do much higher temp and will just reduce the lifespan of the insulation.

I think u messed up and motor wire that’s rated for 30,000 hours at 170c isn’t burning up at 90 unless doing many more thousands of hours. That would need to be quite a hotspot.

I don’t know shit about fuck with magnets or motors but what seems very apparent to me with your post is your dismissive language.

I know you are both very knowledgeable when it comes to motors, perhaps asking for further clarification or just disagreeing without dismissing might do wonders for your conversational skills.

If someone complains I’m blatantly oversimplifying I have to be more specific. It’s not personal n just telling as I understand it.

With the wire being rated at a certain temp for 30,000 hours and hot spots generally being said to not get more than ten degrees beyond the general winding temp (a lot of assumptions).. the magnets are the real decider of how much temp will damage a motor.

The magnet rating and its stated max operating temp n curie temp are just guidelines and it greatly depends on the physical surroundings. If in free air and a typical motor magnet size n shape the max operating point can be much lower than if it’s a thick magnet with a decently thick back iron as these pics show. It’s

If concerned ur too hot I think best to not stop and keep it moving to get at least some airflow to keep the heat off the magnets
.

Then again I’m getting conflicting answers and despite the long and thin shape the back iron is said to increase the operating temp.

Actue

I’ve discovered this issue happened because I switched on “Read Only” in ESC Settings in Metr.
