It snapped when I was doing manouvers basically standstill when collecting the cones after the session, and I accidently leaned over too much and the board went up on two wheels. When the other two wheels came down I heard a ding looked back, only to see my kingpin and a bushing

Now that you asked I went for a quick ride around the block though with the front but very unsupportive bushings still in, and everything removed from the rear. Felt very responsive, but completely rideable… Just have to be gentle with your inputs, that’s it.

Hit 44 km/h / 27 mph on without the slightest feel of instability. Up to about 20 mph I even tried to induce wobbles, but nothing. Didn’t dare to push it faster but if you are gentle with your inputs you don’t need rear bushings on dualities… :exploding_head:

When I slowed down below walking pace on the other hand it became really hard to balance on

Tearing down the board right now to take the needed parts for esk8con

I found out what the occasional weird noise in my gear drives was!

Still works though hahahha

The plan is reassembly on the newly designed drives in Vegas. So I gotta get these pinions off with the blowtorch, not my favorite job…

Guess the move to mod 1.5 was warranted after all

Esk8con updates coming up.

I went to the Sunday dam session in LA the week before the con. Right after my arrival in the US Saturday night. Unfortunately, the airline left my board bag at the transfer airport in London… So the LA part was without my board.

@tuckjohn to the rescue, he graciously lent me Nothing Fancy to ride, which was nice and I felt comfortable on her after reaching the conclusion that 60A each is what the 6355s reachers are comfortable with. The krank bushings in there felt like krank bushings, but oh well. I still felt fairly comfortable on the Dualities, even hit 39 mph on the esk8con mockup track.

In the evening I was taking apart my old BN gear drives (which I had in my backpack instead of the board bag). Freeing the motors, assembling the new motor mounts on the 240 hangers, putting on the pinions.

Then Monday was just chilling with the Euro crew at Venice beach. Tuesday we went to Universal Studios, then visited the SD night i2s session. There I borrowed an onsra black carve from Fabian and did some laps with that.

Wednesday we took the drive to Vegas and got my board bag in the evening, thanks to David Bonde. A large chunk of the night was spent on assembling the board on the new drives.

Thursday morning was spent on board assembly too, the board was ready to roll around 2pm, or so I thought. Plugged in the borrowed lipos and harness from @CHADFARTHOUSE, all went well, huuuuge shoutout to Alex for letting me borrow them!

Then I tried pairing my friend’s GT2E to my receiver - which I took because it’s modded a bit smaller than mine. But nope. It just refused to.

Alex to the rescue, delivering a GT2B to @fessyfoo who was driving that day from LA. Went to the moto shop for a new helmet, ended up getting a Sedici Duale. Thursday night I got the remote from Fess, put the new receiver in the board, paired with the new remote, all good. Went to the SKP airbnb to make @TZDKB’s emergency lipo harness with the help of Poast and the charging adapters.

:joy:

Now finally both me and Tilo had a rideable board. Next day, qualifications. Started off by tweaking my bushing setup, ended up settling on this all WFB combo, feels nice, a little divey, easy to turn, while offering enough stability for the straight.

Front 93/95 barrel, rear 100 chubby / 95 fatcone, all tall WFB.
I qualified for 11th.

Saturday, heats. All went cleanly, and I just about made it to the finals. Had my fastest lap time during reverse grid:

Sunday, finals. Ended up messing up the launch and dropping to P12, then fought my way to P11 through Joshua, then put on some pressure on Tucker but didn’t manage to overtake. Then Brady crashed out so my final position is 10th.

Monday I needed to get a new suitcase and take apart the board again. Ended up just about fitting all my stuff

And also had a short ride on the Strip.

Tuesday early morning I had to catch my flight, already.

Now I am back in Denmark and going to soon reassemble everything together, plus put my old Dualities on JumpBro.

Zooming past the straight.

My top speed during the finals ended up being 71.9 km/h or 44.7 mph according to racebox which is also a new record for me actually.

I’ve got a video of the finals coming soon, and hopefully some more pictures too!

Also my rear motors both lost one of these screws. And the rest are all loose. How that could have happened, idk. But I’ll be loctiteing the remaining ones in and getting some extras when I get to visit the hardware store next time

reacher try and put threadlocker on screws challenge (impossible)

check every screw when you recieve your motors. I’ve had multiple come in with shaft setscrews LOOSE.

was your board not jumping going over that square? i pretty much had to avoid it like the plague unless i wanted some air time

I was hitting it on purpose. i liked the line.
but yeah it wasn’t nothin’

I actually didn’t even notice it at all hahaha. I guess maybe in Europe we might be used to racing on cracks more?

i never attempted it after i got thrown in the air the first time although i should’ve tried different ways of hitting it during practice. oh well

She’s back together! I’ve decided to run the motor cables towards the hanger for a cleaner look, and it also makes me worry much less about stacking boards vertically in the car - no motor wires get squished where they exit the motor.

Also did a T-race session today with 13.07 toeside.

This is on my esk8con bushing combo btw. I could get away with looser trucks for T-race, but having a set and forget setup that works for anything from the tightest track to medium - large tracks, is just too good to pass up.

From the data it looks like no cruising, always accelerating some direction, just what I like to see. With a bit of luck I’ll be back in the 12s next session. Just gotta reinflate my tires with soapy water for better fitment so I feel the edge of grip a little better.

Good stuff in the races.

I was wondering how noticeable was the change to narrower hanger for you.

Thanks! Honestly I expected a bit larger difference in ride feel. It’s a little quicker to react perhaps but not by a huge amount, at least without doing back to back runs to compare. Because of the less width I can go closer to cones though and hit them less often which I actually find kinda nice and way more noticeable than it should have been. And I think on the small (normal) wheels the board looks more proportional perhaps.

The main reason for the change was that the kart wheels will add so much width that I wanted to cancel as much of that as possible. Can’t wait for the aluminium hubs to be done to give those a go on track!

Unfortunately the steel chassis is getting pushed back with final assembly probably right after my exam period in the summer though. I wayyy overspent at esk8con and also wayyy overspent on cars right before esk8con. And gotta spend some money fixing a couple things on my current car also before putting down the money for the chassis, so we will see how it goes.

Thanks! I’m happy I made it in there  that was my goal all along!

Have to admit its a bit painful watching you get busted in the first corner all the time  That one was hard to get right for sure though. You are definitely able to get faster.

I was practicing launches just before the finals to see what my chances of the board starting like it’s supposed to be are. It was like 5%. So when the board actually started without stuttering I was so surprised that I completely forgot my line :joy: it is what it is! Next time if I’m coming out I’ll wire up the sensors beforehand
