4kW charging is nuts, dude. I love it.
That’s more power then some people’s boards😂

Nice build, congrats to your friend… I would be interested to see how the 8x3 Carlisle slicks compare to the 9x3.5 slicks.
Thanks! I’ll borrow the 8x3s for a spin as well. I suspect it will be surface dependent which works better. On a perfect asphalt probably the 9s but in not so perfect conditions I think the 8s having less surface area and therefore more pressure might be a good thing.
how you liking the wfb? what bushing setup you running now?
I’m running WFB 95.5A bushings, tall barrels front tall chubbies rear.
WFB is the real deal for performance. It’s the most stable setup I’ve ever tried and allows a lot of lean. Basically you can reach end of lean with barely any resistance. Whether you run lean stoppers (25d) or not (33d) it’s still very little resistance. The more restrictive lean stoppers you have the more rebound I would like personally just to not reach the edge so easily, but it’s probably still worth to give WFB a go.
But I do think the ideal setup for these trucks are if you give the front all the articulation they can have, and the rear either stock 25d or give it a tiny bit more.
WFB makes low speed turns so much more effortless but somehow managed to be the most stable setup for high speeds as well.
Just one thing though about WFB. Anything softer than 95.5A for me anyways is way too soft. I would love to try harder duros but WFB maxes out at 95.5A for bushings anyways. Goes up to 100A for pivot cups though. I’ll try to convince riptide to brew up a 100A set for me eventually
how much do you weigh? i’m only 70 kilos
80-85kg, closer to 85 with gear
thanks bro, might order some wfb’s then
Oh and also bindings change the equation a bit. Without bindings 95.5A is pretty good for my weight, although I personally can’t really imagine full lean without bindings just because of how steep that deck angle is on my setup. With bindings it’s still good but definitely on the softer side
yeah, i’m selling the lacroix i was gonna build out so i’ll be throwing duality trucks on sidewinder eventually which i have bindings on
Goddamn that’s a savage build. Congrats and enjoy and ride safe.
Quick update. Looking like it will be finished for the Montrevel race
Deck got converted into swiss cheese
Beeeeefy heatsink installed, with silicone around the edge (not on picture)
Enclosure installed on deck.
Also got the receiver and metr module out of the old board. All that’s left is to split the on off cable, make a canbus cable, remount trucks and bindings, and make phase wire extensions. Plus VESC config.
Probably about 3h work total
Also made some 8x3 slicks for my friends board
9x3.5 - 8x3 - 8x2
Holy hell dude you’ve been at it!! great work! im excited to see how you do in that race!
Pre race day updates
The 8x3 are tearing apart the first day, so this brand/ model doesn’t work as well. I haven’t run it only my friends, so I don’t know the grip limit. Seemed to perform better than the 9x3.5 on the brief session today but not as well as BRP or linnpower slicks.
I will try them out tomorrow though probably to see if it grips any better. Also the 9x3.5 felt pretty bad today. I’ll try playing with pressures tomorrow…
Unfortunately been too tired to work on the 4wd much so I’ll probably run 2wd. It’s what it is, since the tires don’t seem to work on this track, I don’t even think that I can qualify for top category.
dang those tires are really worn in
Race day updates
I’ve went up in tire pressure a lot. From 0.8 bar to 2.2 bar in the front and 2.4 bar in the rear. Grip has been much better but still not as amazing as I would have liked. When coming here I fully expected these tires to do great. They did about 0.8G but the asphalt wasn’t super consistent, in some corners I wasn’t pushing the limit so they have a little bit more in them. Still with the weather being as good as it was I was hoping to get to like 1.2G which I just couldn’t.
Top speed wise I did nearly 63 km/h which is my new record on this board. It felt good at that speed.
And truck angles. This is a longer track compared to what tracks I usually race, and I needed to be able to get 3 good laps in a row. So decided to give 30/10 a try. While I like 25/10 more for street riding, 30/10 really made it more easy on my legs to keep up, so it’s a positive change overall. And I am gonna keep it at this angle for the foreseeable future.
Position wise I was genuinely fighting trying to stay in the first category. Competition was strong! And I didn’t had much practice in the past few weeks.
Oh and my friend’s 8x3 set. As the top layer wear off grip has gotten better on it. I didn’t put them on my board though. But they were probably fairly close to my 9s grip wise today.
Just ordered a set of Linnpower racing slicks, which I plan to run on a set of MBS rockstar II pro XL’s widened by 14mm. After Montrevel, I don’t want to only have the 9x3.5s on hand for race day, as they can be a bit temperamental. Work great on certain surfaces, not so great on others.
And assuming the weather will be good, I am taking this setup to race in Pardubice on September 21st. Definitely on 4WD, hopefully on the linnpowers if they arrive in time.
I’ll be keeping the linnpowers for actual track days though and using the much slower wearing 9x3.5 slicks for general practise sessions.
Working on the 4wd conversion today. Swapped ESC bullets to 5.5 and installed trucks for the final time.
Since my trucks came loose at Montrevel I decided to double nut them this time
Arrgggghh that ride height is so good!
In the front deck height is 3mm above middle of axle height. Rear is about 8-9mm above because of the angled riser to make the truck 10 degrees.
Just phase extensions and canbus cable and it’s done!
Do you still have clearance between the hanger and the double nuts at full tilt?
Daaaamn that ride height is sick!!! Nicely done!
