I’m working on getting a board ready for avs this year. In terms of battery specs, would a Molicel 12s8p pack have enough power to compete? Looks like lots of non stooge/vesc boards are using higher volts these days.

I’d rate that battery at 12-16kw capable. so yes plenty of power in the battery.

Thanks! I guess I’m concerned/having trouble around pushing enough motor amps and gearing it correctly with a 12s setup since avs needs higher speeds.

Maybe I’ll make a thread for the build to get some feedback. Trying to stick with a 12s vesc build, but might need to go HW if I stay with 12s.

Radium is a great example of 12s still being enough for a lot of people

Topping at 40 will make AVS challenging though

Yeah you’ll need at least 44mph or more to get in front of a purpose built race board in sportsman class

The new meepo board topping at 40 will get gapped instantly on the straight in pro class

I was touching 46 and still wasn’t fast enough

Website said 36mph

That’s kinda my worry. Radium is using a 12s6p, and probably pushing a bunch of motor amps with high kv. With a 12s8p, I’m not sure I’ll be able to get that much more out of it, or at least, I’m not sure the gearing and kv required.

That being said, it’s not like I am aiming for 1st in pro… for now.

Trust me even getting to 40 takes huge balls lol

There will be lower classes too but right now I think being able to at least hit 40+ on the straight is a requirement to be competitive in pro. Even on the second straight I was hitting 37, and I still came 7th place in the pro final, over 2 turns behind the others

I have upgraded and gotten a bit better since then, but still.
