I sliced my finger open at work a few months ago and had to get stitched up/sent home for a couple days to let it heal up. First thing I did when I got home from the hospital was decide to take my entire Onewheel apart to swap the rails, hub and tire on it  Wound was bleeding thru the bandage and I was covered in greasy grime. Oops

I essentially fell in a pretty gnarly way

Much better I can walk with much less pain for short distances but the rapidly accelerates and adds to the difficulty of walk the further I travel.

I have this fancy back brace called a TSLO brace that supports my back a lot I get away without using it as I forget to put it on sometimes

But initially it was critical as I had wet noodle posture.

But I’ve seriously got a long way to go
Much farther than I’d like to be but I suppose it hasn’t been much time since I did do this to myself. I need probably 6 more weeks for like a actually evaluation on healing.

I keep getting in my head about this is like as good as it gets cause my recovery is either slowing down much sooner than I’d like it to.
Or I’m just getting irritable about the situation idk.

I keep breaking rules of lifting shit more than 5 pounds like everyday but like idk how im not supposed to.

Having your spine broken really humbles you like seriously, I feel like a real bitch ass :joy:

But I do very much appreciate you checking in!
Been a bit dull aside from my school semester ending

I really need to learn to take note of the safety warnings on this forum. I knew I had read something about hoyt pucks possibly going full throttle if damaged, but didn’t really pay attention and just had mine do that. It hadn’t gotten much use since I crashed and broke my ankle this summer. I assume it was damaged then. Luckily I was only going about 15 mph when it happened. It caused an instant wheelie, knocked me on my ass, and dragged me a little bit. Somehow in the chaos I think the receiver unplugged because afterward it wasn’t even connected anymore. I haven’t really fully analyzed the aftermath.

I thought I might have broken my wrist at first, but it’s starting to feel more mobile now that it’s been about 6 hours and I’ve been icing it and took some ibuprofen.

Very weird. somethings up with my newer metr logs? @janpom have any ideas?

Looks like an older one works fine. All of my recent logs from the past couple months are like this

Looks like GPS is not working.

And that’s preventing downloading of the file?

While I’m riding, it shows that it sees Sats and has a lock.

That’s weird. The Dec 18 log clearly doesn’t have GPS data and that only happens if the GPS is not working while recording is in progress. Are you sure the GPS had location fix? The GPS icon should be green.

Looking at a freeze frame from my helmet cam from the same time as the log, looks like you’re fully right, I was mistaken.
(the glass shattered recent-ish when someone else was riding the board (not sure how it happened) but i’ve been having the problem of weird logs for much longer then that)

Entirely possible the GPS module was/is damaged from my crash with @RedBeardTorgo earlier this year. It took a direct hit with the ground…

Taking it apart, there’s definitely some scraps on the antenna.

Probably enough to reduce its effectiveness, and would explain the lack of GPS. Looks like I gotta replace it. Seems like they’re available on Amazon

Separately, also makes me wonder if the damaged GPS module was/is somehow causing the file corruption that I experienced.

Thanks for the help @janpom !

Aha, makes sense. I’m glad it’s clarified.

Yes, it should be easy to buy a replacement GPS module. You will just need to solder the wires on, which is fiddly. There’s also a JST-SH connector but that one unfortunately can’t be used since then the GPS no longer fits the Megan housing.

That’s unlikely. Please try reformatting the filesystem on the Megan (there’s an item in the menu for that). That should help.

I agree with you haha. No idea what a possible mechanism could be (maybe malformed serial packets causing longer then expected interrupt times, messing with the filesystem logging timing? or something? Would be wild)

Already reformatted it a couple times… After connecting to wifi and uploading records, I’ve gotten a ā€œcorrupt filesystem detectedā€ warning a couple times before. Going to be interesting if they continue after I replace the GPS module.

I get corrupted file errors every couple rides lately and re format often. How often is normal and when should i look into troubleshooting it? Hasn’t caused me many issues with logs or anything just comes up a lot lately on my older megan

There may be some false positives caused by logging. The logs take up some space and sometimes Megan is surprised that the storage isn’t completely empty after uploading all the rides.

In general, if you get ā€œfilesystem may be corruptedā€ after a record upload but the used storage is under 10%, you can just ignore the message.

Sorry that this is a bit clunky. We should suppress those false positive with some firmware update.

Merry Christmas guys, hope everyone gets some quality time with their friends and families. Here’s to another year of esk8 shenanigans and good times.

Not really an esk8 build, but I need to focus on the workshop / garage fitout first, then when there’s an inviting space to work in things will be good.

Finally dressed up all my old rotten, native timber (rimu) fence pailings, rotted facias from the old 98 year old garage, and other bits of lousy wood.

Garage is 6x9x2.7m. Insulated with 90mm urethane foam, and lined in 13mm plasterboard.

I’m pretty chuffed with how the first walls turned out, so here it is, close enough to being finished for a photo at last.

It feels like it’s taking forever, I’ve prepiped compressed air outlets and a heat pump not yet commissioned. A LOT of wiring and lighting circuits, because I’m a sparky, and I’m doing my my own plastering / painting which gets more repedatice than spot welding a 240 cell battery.
