Project-Iron Giant

Update time:
@Shadowfax asked for an update and i thought it was about time i wrote one down too.

this was somewhat true. the qs165 has an abi encoder in it (wish i had gotten the hall sensor version) the abi encoder on the bench works great, however when actually ridden it was awful and due to the gearing it uses the encoder for 0 to 10mph and the current to move it was alot which meant zero torque any time. The actual problem was noise in the line. when on the bench it was great because of the lack or current going through the motor phases. when ridden your talkin 250-350a running along side the encoder cable, as you can imagine that created nuts noise.
Ran the encoder line on the opposide of the chassis totally removed this issue.

issue number 2- physics
I weigh 67kg and iron giant currently weighs 62kg. it makes it feel stable af but the rear wheels are fixed meaning she picks the direction and goes. to turn it you have to really rag it, on dirt and mud she handles fairly nicely but still not as playful as i’d like. i think 4wd would help but to break down the cost i’m looking at another £300 for the motor, £400 for the vesc and then to top it off it is still running a 12s pack, ideally it needs a 16s16p molicel AND thats another 20-30kg.
i’ll be redesigning it/ might make it alittle for playful, smaller wheel base and the whatnot.
