I wanna see you ride this lol
The parts to make SN01 just arrived.
He’s a beast
Fuck FIS
I need to ride one of these… when will you be looking for external beta testers?
Yup, back in the day(1998) there was very much when the Olympics chose FIS to run the snowboard Olympics pre quals instead of ISF which was a snowboarder ran organization. Especially then it was salt in the wounds after years of snowboarders having to fight to even be able to ride on the ski hills.
Terje Hakkonson, arguably a GOAT in many folks eyes, was the all out favorite to win 98 Olympics. He bowed out in protest because 1 the FIS fiasco, and 2 he is not a fan of the Olympics and how they are run.
Federation International de Ski still runs snowboarding points event to this day.
So yeah, fuck FIS is a grudge since you were in diapers
Wow! I had no idea! Thanks for the info haha
I’ve been racing FIS standard my whole life and I just know about this now
I’m glad the ski vs snowboard is pretty much in the past.
I’ll sit up top my jumpline and hoot and hollar for the young buck skiers and they’re stoked to see an old dude still hitting the biggest features.
It was very much a thing back then as illustrated here:
And that inspired multiple Burton sponsored poaching contests at the remaining holdouts.
I find it funny to pretend the beef is still alive
If we ever ride together we’ll do a gaper day, except I wear your race spandex and you wear ridiculously baggy early 00’s snowboard pants with 90s neon top.
And we’ll race! (Spoiler, I’ll win )
Next, we mount and wire the hall sensors, then plug the motor into the vesc.
Looks incredible cant wait to see it in action!
hmmm, did you have a third party designing your motor? Or did you already performance test metrics behind the scenes?
Idle current, efficiency, max torque etc?
Please dont tell me you’re just slapping it on and expecting it to work as intended
We modeled it with a few engineers. The picture above was the first time the parts were all mounted on the board. (The stator wasn’t installed yet.) The motor is now mounted on the bench spinning…
If we paid everyone to do everything this project would be dead.
If you model the parts in simulation enough you can start to predict the effect on torque and RPM.
We used AI to test every parameter range, then picked from the graphs.
This is how we got to a stator that can handle 2500-8000W 1000-2000 RPM 50Nm+
Looking forward to the practial bench test results, will be intresting to see how close they are to sims
