The official invitation for Stuttgart from ElectricEmpire:

Btw, I just changed the title of the thread to be more generic for future events and news regarding our topic

The current legal status of PLEV in Germany is

  • Up to 6km/h anything is allowed
  • Only eScooter allowed with a fixed max speed of 20km/h
  • The scooter needs to have a ABE (Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis / general operating license issued by TÜV which is really expensive (last number I read somewhere was 15000€)
  • With that you can get insurance which is also needed (but not really expensive)
  • No helmet required (Already had bad accidents since the new law and the rental scooters came)
  • Everything else is not allowed
  • Worst punishment that could happen (depends on the individual policeman): You commit a felony by driving a motorized vehicle without insurance.
  • There were some EUCs on the demo that had insurance (recognizable by small license plates) so they managed to get insurance but afaik the vehicles themselves are not allowed to drive. This will be only a “Ordnungswidrigkeit” with a fine in case the catch you

Feel free to correct / complete this post

Does a roadmap for 2020 exist or will the (german) community employ more kind of guerilla tactics?

Shout out to everybody taking it to the streets!

fuck…for a second i thought that’s a change in the law and not a petition :sob:

It is funny how they claim in news ‘climate neutrality’ but in reality restrict people on using personal electric transport, making it hard to register / insure it and so on…

Well we are a threat to the public people. “Germany and its citizins aren’t ready for this change”

A few days ago i saw an escooter driving in the middle of the road doing rush hour full of cars going 40-70km/h. He was going the legal 20km/h. The sad part is that he is forced to expose himself to the danger.

Yeah, too good to be true …

Some updates on my case (I was stopped by the police back in Nov. 2019):

I just got a letter form the public prosecutor (Staatsanwaltschaft) -> they have agreed to drop the charges If I hand them my board and sign some papers.

Keep an eye open, riding eskates in Germany is not safe. Each case is handled differently, you might be lucky in some situations and rather unlucky in others.

Keep safe!

yup, i’ve been there in January til mid february. Especially now with the warm weather and covid-19 there’s police practically on every corner.

And that is what you did? Hand them the board and sign the papers? What would have been the alternative?

No idea what the alternative would have been. The issue is that I no longer live in Germany, so I tried contacting the Staatsanwältin via Email Fax and Phone, all did not work. Finaly I told my father in spain to send the remainders of my deck (which I had already disassembled before getting notified) to Munich as the deadline is next Monday

We’ll see if it worked
