Persona 5 Themed Street Surf Adapter build

I am almost done with this build and have so many photos and details to add so this will be updated with more information soon or soon ish. I’m skipping a lot of details right now purely to make sure I actually make this build post

I’m currently waiting two more days for the clear polyurethane finish to fully set so I can assemble everything again. Future me will make this into a more coherent thread but for right now I figured I’d finally make the thread to start with.

Here is how it started: a kind of complete purchased second hand on here for cheap knowing that I’d need/ want to do a lot of work on it to meet my needs/wants:

Purchased in December 2022 but then I ended up working too much and progress slowed down too much

Sale photos because past me is an idiot and didn’t take photos aside from photos of the top of the deck :person_facepalming:

This is the closest thing I have to a photo of the enclosure before I modified it to be more water tight:

As you can see, there was a large section completely cut out for the wires to run through that I had to rebuild with epoxy and fiber glass. I used mostly fiber glass tape for this bit due to having it on hand and not having woven sheets. As far as I can tell, both are more than strong enough for this purpose and the tape is slightly easier to work with IMO.

I will add more photos of the progress of building this side of the enclosure back up later but here is a finished photo of the epoxy work:

Bought a used surfadapter on here that just needed some new roller bearings and a new paint job:

I have more photos of the process that will also be added in later

The the new extension bracket arrived but they used a carbon fiber that had this ugly checkerboard pattern to it. The older ones looked better IMO so I decided to paint and fix it, after originally deciding just to sand it slightly and add an opaque black layer of epoxy to it.

Finished photo:

The epoxy I used did not want to self level so does have a slightly uneven surface to it but :person_shrugging:

If I have more photos of the process for this bit then I will add it, but i will at least explain the steps taken via an edit in the future.

Had to order a new battery so in the time waiting I decided I wanted to go ahead and paint the bottom of the deck now instead of doing it later:

The tineist and cutest little Morgana that will show through the hole in the extension bracket I use for the surfadapter

The other side

Since the deck is mainly covered by the enclosures, I decided not to paint the entire surface and instead used the bare wood in the design.

Comment to use in the future if I don’t want to edit the above post wiht more info

Another comment to make sure I have space to add more info nicely

I think 4 comments will be more than enough extra divided space so please ignore this

Please also ignore this bit that will eventually be used to cover the design process for when I order custom grip tape. Design is like 70% complete currently

You ever play P4? I went through that twice, real good game. I’m probably 75% through P5 and it’s pretty good too.

I have not played it at all and I haven’t even finished P5 if I’m being honest. :face_with_peeking_eye: I do really love the game but don’t have the time or energy to finish it at my desk. and then haven’t had the time since the switch release was out.

I played using a ps4 emulator on my PC to begin with. I think I got at least half way through? I still love the game and the aesthetic regardless though

Damn that deck has been proper shaved down. Wonder if they add fibreglass after they butcher it like that

There is no reason to add fiber glass to it :person_shrugging: the deck itself is much thicker than my current deck and I needed some extra space for the other battery to fit in nicely. I could add back some material in that area but there is no need to.

Now if this deck was for a heavier rider than maybe it could cause issues, but for my weight it will be fine. Once the finish on it is fully dry I’ll have to get a side by side shot of the thickness of the deck compared to the deck I’ve been riding on. It is still thicker than or the same thickness as my current deck even at the shaved down part.

My first was P3 on PSTV which I absolutely loved. P4 & P5 are on game pass atm, and I’m about 2 hours into P5…

Is it blasphemous if I skip P4?

The games aren’t linear! so you can play whatever # you want. only exception is for the same # games but with an extra word after the title. Those versions add more content to the OG game but you don’t need to play the normal version first

no one flag Persona questions as off topic pls. I’m gladly allowing them here even if I’ve only played one of them
