Pairing A Helvei contoler with the board

So I got me a second hand ‘HELVEI Motorised SmartMove Longboard Skateboard with Rechargeable Battery Pack, Dual Motors 1800 W, unfortunately, the battery of the remote didn’t last long at all. I have tried replacing the battery (well soldering another one on the inside the housing to the existing battery) but soldering is not my thing & have tried to get other remotes to match up with the board to no avail. Can anyone tell me whats the best remote to buy for this? Ps Helvei sell-thru amazon etc & have never got back to me when trying to contact them, hell I even said I would buy 100 boards off them to get a response but nothing came back!!

Can you open your board up? Looks to me like a meepo style remote / chinese ESC

That either means you can purchase another remote and try to re-pair them (not sure how to do this, @Anubis , @Esk8supply or another vendor who dabbles in chinese ESCs might be able to help)

Or you can replace your ESC for another existing system, either a (1) chinese ESC / remote combo or (2) a VESC w/ Other remote combo

  1. Ill give two options for each, a more expensive one, and a less expensive one:

More expensive: https://www.esk8supply.shop/product-page/esdualcontroller

Less expensive: (Make sure you switch to USD or whatever currency you use, mine defaulted to… Chinese money( sorry idk what its called =’) ): https://www.ebay.com.hk/itm/Dual-motors-longboard-skateboard-controller-with-remote-ESC-Substitute/302812941839?hash=item46810ece0f:m:mEjYlp9id5UtRAwhPmlchiw&var=601709105320

  1. Or a VESC option would be :

(more expensive): Unity w/ Hoyt Puck

(Less expensive): Dual Maytech SuperFOC w/ TB mini controller

I don’t sell shitty ESCs ( ͡° ʖ̯ ͡°) But I do know pretty much everything there is to know about every budget board so I can help

There probably won’t be space for anything beyond a small VESC 4 system like a maker-x esc or some other 4.20 mini setup etc. Its also kind of awkward to fit a loopkey/power button and things in there.

You can buy a replacement remote on ebay, this is the cheapest one on UK ebay but your local one will have its own, you can also pair with an NR, RC4 / 5 / 6 / 7, Screen MR or other Binary based remote (Link me a remote and I can tell you if its compatible).

If you HAVE to cheap out, the cheapest reccomendable ESC is this one (The hobbywing)

The board looks like a liftboard. Same long aluminum enclosure and everything

Many thanks for the feed back @Sn4Pz I have bookmarked you suggestions & will prepare to operate on the board & add a picture on here. This board cost £200 so I will look at the cheaper one i recon! I have brought other hand remote controllers but haven’t been able to pair so far so I will check out the ESC as well

Hi @Bobby s it looks exactly the same I wonder who ripped off who Helvei or Lift. Probably Helvei judging by the customer service I didn’t get!

I have seen this kind of remote as low as £7 ($9) a pop on ebay, maybe you can buy few spare ones if the esc works fine. I am guessing you don’t want to spend too much on the board.

If not, https://www.esk8supply.shop/product-page/esdualcontroller
is a good choice for upgrading budget builds like this.

Unfortunately, hobbywing is very picky when it comes to compatibility with motors unless you know it is compatible. it will be a waste of money

Can you show which remotes you have bought already?

If you are not looking to spend much, there is not much point to get a replacement ESC for a £200 board. I am using what is probably the same ESC in my personal board and haven’t had a reason to upgrade it yet after ~1000 miles as it does everything I need.

I would recommend getting an RC7 remote (the one here: http://www.diyeboard.com/new-version-3-speed-mode-remote-controller-rc7-for-diyeboard-p-690.html ), as the RC5 and RC6 (the one you have) have quite a bit of a dead zone and are not very responsive. In the description of the listing I linked there are also instructions on how to pair it. If you buy from the link above, make sure you use Paypal as some people have had bad experiences with that shop. I did buy from them twice and did not have any issues though. If you have friends in China, they are much cheaper on Taobao (I paid about £8 for one)

Thanks a lot for the info,

I think you are right I have tryed a few now

Thanks for the info the R7 controller definitely sounds good. I have used the R6 before & I couldn’t get them work!

hello did you manage to solve the problem with your board? I bought the same one without a remote controler and I can’t pair with the remote controler i try remotes from my friends board but it don’t paring with any:(

my friend has a flipsky VX1 controler set, lives far away but can send it to me is it possible to pair without changing the receiver?
in set is also a receiver there but I do not know if it makes sense to mount the receiver from vx1 or better to look for a controler for a liftboard?

If you want to keep this esc i don’t think you can use an other remote with it

Or at least when i tried almost two year ago i didn’t succeed but maybe you could try to figure out the receiver connections, i fried the esc trying to do so and then bought a unity

Also be carefull,i had sudden throttle issues with it after a wile
